During the past years, the Chevrolet trucks were considered to have a poor interior covered in plastics. But the recent Chevrolet 2500HD shut the mouth of critics when it showed up with a redesigned interior that offers all the comfort one could imagine. The 2011 Silverado 2500HD can be bought in different versions, such as the regular, the extended or the crew cab design. Moreover, you can choose a long or a short wheelbase equipped with rear or a four wheel drive.

The extended and crew cab body styles, available for the Chevrolet 2500HD offer three trim levels: LT, top-line LTZ and Work Truck while the regular cabin uses the Work Truck and the LT trims. The features improved for this model include a new diesel engine equipped with exhaust braking, a stronger fully boxed frame and beefier suspension components.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is available with a Duramax 6.6 liters turbodiesel V8 engine that produces 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque. This new diesel engine is equipped with the new Allison 1000 six speed automatic transmission and has a 36 gallons gas tank. The GM officials said that the Silverado can achieve 60 mph in less than 9 seconds. You can also choose another engine version – the 6.0 liters V8 engine which produces 360 horsepower and has a six speed automatic transmission. In addition, the car’s fuel economy is improved by 11% and the tailpipe emissions were considerably reduced in comparison with the previous Silverado.

This Chevrolet 2500HD is equipped with a new exhaust brake system as well. This brake system along with the turbine control and the engine’s compression produces backpressure to stop the truck without the help of the transmission or the brakes. According to buyers the 2011 Silverado is much smoother because of its redesigned front suspension and hydraulic body mounts.

The exterior design didn’t suffer many changes being similar to its predecessors. The only differences are the redesigned grille, the new dome-style hood and the chrome front bumper. The safety has also been taken into account. The engineers have equipped the car with stability control, antilock disc brakes, front side and side curtain airbags. The rear parking sensors or the rearview camera are the optional safety features.

When it comes to the interior the Chevrolet 2500HD, is all about comfort. All the electronic and modern gadgets are right there where you expect them to be. When you get inside of the Work Truck trim model your attention is caught by the 17 inches steel wheel, the vinyl upholstery and floor coverings, the AM/FM stereo, the trip computer and the 40/20/40 split front bench. Some extra money will get you even higher quality. So, if  money is not an issue you will be impressed by the LT trim level which includes some additional features such as the cruise control, the cloth seats and the carpeted floor coverings, the satellite radio and the CD/MP3 player or the driver-side lumbar adjustments. The high-tech gadgets are available in the LTZ trim model as well and include fog lights, the dual-zone automatic climate control, remote starting, Bluetooth, an upgraded Bose Stereo system with an USB port, mobile WiFi and many others.
