Back in 2010, the engineers over at Lingenfelter unveiled their Camaro SS LS9 package that offered an incredible 1,234 hp. Their back this year for the 2011 Camaro5Fest with a variation of the same tuning program. The Camaro SS will get a revised Pedders/Lingenfelter drag race shock absorber package, plus a 427 CID LSX power unit.
Other goodies include Lingenfelter CNC ported GM LS3 six-bolt cylinder heads, a strain gauged shifter, a face-plated TR6060 Trans by RPM Transmissions, along with an LPE 2-step shift torque cut. As you can see from this video, these upgrades have already been tested on the Dyno and were able to do a WOT 3-4 shift with both stages of nitrous, tuning both the initiation and duration of the torque cut.
The test was accomplished in vehicle simulation mode, while producing more than 1,200 rwhp @ 7,200 rpm.

Exodus Pictures is preparing to release sci-fi flick Jinn onto the movie-going masses. Written and directed by Ajmal Ahmad, the movie is set to attract quite a big audience.
But how is this related to cars? Well a very special Chevrolet Camaro SS will be predominantly featured in the flick, boasting a completely bespoke design and quite a catchy name: the Firebreather. The car was designed by Ahmad, and created by Exodus Pictures in collaboration with fellow Michigan-based Classic Design Concepts.
Despite the car looking pretty bad due to the lighting conditions at the Detroit Autorama convention, you can still see that this was once a Camaro SS, but has now received a fresh body kit, very reminiscent of the classic Trans-Am design.
In case you’re interested, Exodus and CDC will be marketing 50 of them to the public, each costing aroudn $60,000. For that money you won’t be getting a power upgrade, but handling will be improved thanks to the Elbach Pro-Plus Performance package and the new Pirelli racing tires.

Even though the auto industry is already getting into the holiday spirit, Chevrolet doesn’t stop and has just revealed the special edition Indy 500 Camaro SS Pace Car, which will be showcased at the prestigious Nascar race next spring.
Built as a tribute to the original 1967 Camaro SS which paced the race that year, this new model has everything needed for such an endeavor, and even sports the special Inferno Orange Metallic paint, complete with White Diamond rally stripes.
On the inside, the Camaro SS is powered by a 400 HP 6.2-liter V8 engine, coupled with an automatic gearbox. Other changes are completely cosmetic, and include a multitude of Indy 500 logos on everything from the doors to the fenders or seat headrests. In case you’re wondering, the strobe light system is mounted inside the rear window, and not on the roof like other pace cars.
You can admire the Indy 500 Chevrlet Camaro SS at the Indianapolis Auto Show, which kicks off on December 26, and after that at the Indy 500 race on May 30, 2010.

This morning we showed you the official photo of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro released yesterday by GM. Meanwhile, we found out that GM dealers will start taking orders for the Camaro and for the Camaro SS next month. Yup, that’s right, the Camaro is only one month away so you’d better have that deposit ready, because it trully is a remarkable car.
Though production will start in February 2009 and the first customers will get their cars in March, Chevrolet Spokesman Terry Rhadigan said: “We think there could be pent-up demand [..] The advice is to get to your Chevy dealer sooner than later.” He noted that buyers “may have to put a deposit down” to get in line for the Camaro, but that requirement is completely up to Chevrolet dealers. The V6 Camaro pricing will start in the low $20,000, while the Camaro SS is expected to be priced around $30,000.

Recently General Motors have put on their site the first official render and performance data of their top-spec SS (standing for Super Sport) version of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. And this version really deserves the Super Sport badge, being powered by a 6.2 litre V8 which comes with a choice of either manual or automatic transmission, both with 6 speeds.
Here start the differences, if you opt for the manual transmission, you’ll be getting the 6.2 litre V8 LS3 engine which can deliver up to 422 hp with 553 Nm of torque (or 408 lb.-ft.). Instead, if you choose an automatic gearbox, you’ll be gettin the 6.2 litre V8 L99 engine, which has, besides the standard LS3, GM’s Active Fuel Management system, which enables the engine to run only 4 cylinders on normal driving conditions, like in the city. This engine is capable of 400 hp and 535 Nm (395 lb.-ft.) of torque. Coupled with the automatic transmission, the SS will achieve an average of 23 mpg or 10.2 l/100km.
