Chevrolet Truck
The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four doors sport utility truck manufactured by General Motors. It can transport up to 6 passengers and it is different from the typical trucks because the open bed of the Avalanche comes off to the back seat area through a folding panel (called “midgate”).
The first Avalanche was manufactured in 2002 using the GMT800 platform. The car had an “A” shape plastic body (the so called “C-ring”) that made it different from the Suburban or the Yokon XL. The role of the “C-ring” is to prevent the wind from entering in the cabin when the rear window or the Midgate is removed and to improve the aerodynamics. The body of this Chevrolet truck is more ridged and stronger than other SUV or pickup trucks.
Chevrolet Avalanche
The Chevrolet Avalanche uses the Suburban chassis that makes it easy to handle on road and off-pavement. The truck is available on the market equipped with a 5.3 liters or an 8.1 liters V8 engine that produces 285 horsepower. This incredible Chevrolet truck is able to go from zero to 100 km in only 8.3 seconds! That’s great considering its dimensions (the truck can weigh up to 3 tons).
The Avalanche uses an independent ZQ1 Smooth Ride suspension with 16 inches wheels both available for the standard “ride” package. For those who love off-road rides, this Chevrolet truck comes with an optional Z71 off-road suspension. This optional package includes: different jounce bumpers, Bilstein gas-shocks, air cleaner of high capacity to improve the air flow in dirty environments and skid plates that protect the “softy” parts of the car.
A four speed automatic transmission and an electronic traction assist help the truck’s driver to control acceleration on wet and slippery roads. When it comes to safety and security, GM took care about all the details. The truck uses the four wheels antilock disc brakes system and the Autotrac system. In addition, the passenger’s safety is assured by the traditional frontal air bags and by side-impact air bags.
The exterior look of the Chevrolet Avalanche marked the start of the front fascia design line produced by General Motors. The buyers have the option to choose the exterior paint from a variety of colors. The first thing that attracts you when you see a Chevrolet Avalanche is represented by the chrome stripes which split each lamp assembly. Another feature that completes the exterior look is related to the rough folds placed on the hood and the fenders.
Chevrolet Avalanche interior
The interior of the Chevrolet Avalanche is comfortable offering the space required for a pleasant driving experience. An interesting feature is the rear bench’s seatback angle which is comfortable and offers enough space for the passenger to stretch his feet. When it comes to interior materials, the buyers can choose a combination between leather and cloth that make the car’s interior practical and cozy.
The Chevrolet truck is equipped with a CD sound system and has a lot of speakers placed around the truck’s cabin. To make the ride perfect during a hot summer day, the Chevrolet Avalanche has also an A/C system that controls the air flow in the cabin. As an optional feature you can choose the computerized climate-control system that comes at an extra cost. Other interesting features are the coffee warmer, the sun visors, the mirrors and door locks, cruise control and the fog lamps.
The Chevrolet Avalanche offers comfort, space and high performance to any buyer. Even if the truck costs between $36,000 and $39,000 (for the full options version), the Chevrolet truck is a wise choice.
