dodge challenger drag pak – rpmGo.com

The Dodge Challenger is one of the most retro-looking muscle cars of this current generation of fast American sports models. That is why it’s pretty popular with drag drivers who want to look good while racing on the quarter mile track.

Last year the company, together with its performance division, Mopar, revealed the Challenger Drag Pak special edition (pictured above), built specifically with drag racing in mind. Only 100 models were made in 2009 and they sold like proverbial hot cakes, even though they weren’t even street legal.

Now, Dodge and Mopar have just announced that they will begin taking orders for 100 more Dodge Challenger Drag Pak models, with the price of just $39,999. For all that money you’ll be getting a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 under the hood, which can be coupled with a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox.

All of the cars will get specific racing accessories, from revised hoods with functional scoops, to performance seats taken from the Dodge Viper, and a variety of other weight saving measures which manage to shave up to 1,000 pounds from the pretty fat Challenger SRT8. All of the cars can be built to specifications for competitions like NHRA Stock, Super Stock or Comp Eliminator.

Anyone interested in owning such a special drag racer can visit the Mopar.com website and place their order. Act fast though, as just 100 models will be made this year and they will certainly be in great demand.
