Mistery Machine
It seems that the original Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo, created by Hanna-Barbera Productions is up for sale on eBay. Volo Auto Museum listed this modified Dodge A-100 van from the 1963 and they expect to get at least $25,000. However, taking into consideration that it is a no reserve auction, you might grab it for even less.
Vin Diesel’s Chevy Chevelle from Fast and Furious 4
If the Mystery Machine is not your cup of tea, why not buy a car from the popular and very successful Fast & Furious franchise? Up for sale are a Chevrolet Chevelle, a Buick Regal and a Chevrolet Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift.
Robocop’s 1988 Ford Taurus
In addition, you could get your hands on Robocop’s police car that comes bundled with a silicon robo-suit that was used by the stunt driver. Other cars that you could get are the VW Beetle from Herbie: Fully Loaded (driven by Lindsay Lohan) and other vehicles from Indiana Jones 4 and The Dark Knight.

Do you guys remember our top ten about the best movies with cars? We figured out that we need a different top 10 in which we name some of the greatest cars that we’ve seen in motion pictures. Let’s kick things off with a car from xXx, starring Fast Five’s Vin Diesel.
10. Pontiac GTO (from xXx)
This purple-painted 1967 Pontiac GTO should be considered as an American version of the Bond car, filled with gadgets and featuring a badass look. Would you want a poster of this one on your wall? I definitely would, but probably not with that purple paint.
09. Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (from Die Another Day)
Speaking of a Bond car, our number nine goes to the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish from Die Another Day. Why it made it into this top? Well, it looks absolutely gorgeous and it packs daylight stealth technology and some machine guns. In addition, it handles very well on a frozen lake, managing to escape from the missile-packed Jaguar. Enough said.
08. Bumblebee (from Transformers)
I have to admit that I’m not a big fan of the Transformers franchise but I do love that yellow Chevrolet Camaro. That muscular body and those huge wheels look great. I hope that in this year’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon we will be able to see other American muscle cars, maybe the Mustang.
07. The Interceptor (from Mad Max)
Let’s go back into the 80s and have a look at Mel Gibson’s Interceptor from the popular Mad Max franchise. The car was in fact an Australian version of the Ford XB Falcon Coupe, featuring a sinister black paint and other modifications that made it look very cool.
06. Frankenstein’s Monster (from Death Race)
If you haven’t seen Death Race, you’ve missed seeing Jason Statham in this 2006 Ford Mustang GT which has been heavily modified to give it a killer look and in my opinion they’ve accomplished that. Those wheels could have been a little bit bigger, but hey, who’s complaining?
05. The Tumbler (from Batman Begins)
Basically just about all batmobiles have been awesome looking cars but the one we’ve seen in Batman Begins is the coolest of them all. This one was not based on a single car as its design is based on the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet and from Frank Miller’s graphic-novel depiction in “The Dark Night Returns”. Regardless of where they’ve got their inspiration for The Tumbler, it’s a badass piece of machinery.
04. Mini Cooper S (from The Italian Job)
Imagine making the movie with another car. It’s virtually impossible. The success of the motion pictures revolves around the nimble feet of those Mini Coopers. Although the cars weren’t very powerful, no other model would have been more suitable for that intense driving in congested streets, subway tunnels and parks.
03. Pontiac Trans Am (from Smokey and the Bandit)
Remember the movie? It was about getting a truckload of beer from Texas to Atlanta. What we remember is Bo “Bandit” Darville in his Trans Am. Add to this recipe Burt Reynolds’ mustache and the funny car chases and you get a classic movie.
02. Ford Mustang GT 390 (from Bullitt)
Speaking of classic movies, who could forget about the Mustang from Bullitt? And that 7-minute long chase scene between the original pony car and a 1968 Dodge Charger. Why is the Mustang more famous than the Charger? Well, we have to root for the good guy, don’t we?
01. DeLorean DMC-12 (from Back To The Future)
It definitely isn’t the prettiest car from this top, nor the fastest or most powerful. However, it has something special that no other car ever had in a movie: a “flux capacitor” and 1.21 “jigowatts”. All three Back to the Future movies were awesome and the car played an important role, along with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Loyd, two great actors.
Of course, these are only ten examples of great cars that took the spotlight in epic movies. There are others of course, here a just a few that didn’t make it into the top: the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger; the beautiful 1961 Ferrari 250 GT from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or the 1959 Cadillac Ambulance from Ghostbusters.
Feel free to add your suggestions.

Just 6 more days until DIRT 3 hits the market! That means that we’ll leave our fancy rides in our elegant fantasies and , on May 24, we’ll get down and dirty with a bunch of hot rally cars. It feels good to stir up the dust and burn some tires.
Until we get to play it ourselves, Ken Block and Tanner Foust take their well prepared Ford Fiestas to the track. The things they’re up to, oh you’ll enjoy them a lot! I guess good old car stunts never go out of style. This look like soooo much fun! We can’t wait to get our hand on it.
Enjoy the trailer!

If you’ve been missing the automotive adventures of the three most provocative show hosts to ever walk the Earth, then some say that they’ll be back soon. More mind-boggling auto challenges and drive test are coming your way next month!
Rumors go about that on the 12th of June Top Gear will make its comeback with the 17th season of the show. And by some we mean the Dutch edition of Top Gear magazine.
We were very disappointed when the 16th season ended after just 6 episodes. We can’t wait for more action and some intrigue, because we bet there will be bloo…. mentions of the Tesla episode and many more awe generating moments.
Are you as excited as we are?

It seems that in the upcoming season of Top Gear, one of the episodes will contain yet another anti-EV stunt, after the one with the Tesla Roadster in the 12th season. The crew of the show was spotted in Lincoln, traveling in a pair of EVs, the Nissan Leaf and the Peugeot iOn. The latter will go on sale in the United States as the 2012 Mitsubishi “i”.
Jeremy Clarkson and James May visited Lincoln searching for recharging stations for their EVs, which they were trying to drive across the country. As you would expect, the cars ran out of juice outside the offices of the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper.
The 17th season of Top Gear will start this June.

For those of you that have seen Fast Five, you remember that after the closing credits, a short scene aired that tells us a little bit about the 6th installment in the highly successful movie franchise. That scene featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with the beautiful actress Eva Mendes talking about a new case which involved Letty (played by Michelle Rodriguez) who was murdered in Fast & Furious (2009), which means that we will be seeing here “returning from the dead” in the next movie.
The 6th movie will also be directed by Justin Lin, who was in charge of the last three F&F movies. Here’s what he said: [‘Fast and the Furious 6’ is] pretty much 100%. It’s going to happen… At five, we’re just hitting our stride. We’re growing. People want to continue this journey.”
Personally, I loved all movies, except for Tokyo Drift which was pretty boring and the main character had no acting skills whatsoever. The rest of the movies were great, especially Fast Five and I’m very anxious to find out what will happen in Fast Six / Fast and Furious 6, or whatever name they’ll give to the movie.

SplinterBike
Here is something that you do not hear every day, a bike made entirely out of wood, and it is aiming for a 31-mph speed record. The SplinterBike does not have any single piece of plastic, rubber or metal – it is all wood. The bike’s axles are made out of ekki, while the frame, wheels and cogs are birch. Ironwood was used for the bearings, while the handlebars and pedals come from a broom handle.
The bike was developed by Michael Thompson and James Tully and they’ve got their inspiration after watching the Tour of Britain pass Thompson’s front garden. Tully bet him 1 pound he could not make a wooden bike, and as you can see, Tully lost.
Probably the most interesting thing about the SplinterBike is its drivetrain. It does not have the traditional chain that you can find on all bikes; it was replaced with a pair of 128-tooth cogs that link the pedals to the bike’s rear wheel. This isn’t the first bike in the world made entirely out of wood, but there are big chances that it is the fastest and these two guys want to find out if their SplinterBike can reach 31 mph.
Obviously, at the moment there is no existing record, so they had to call in someone to record the bike’s speed. They paid 7,500 pounds to Speed Record Club to come and find out how fast the SplinterBike really is. The team believes that thanks to the bike’s 4:1 gear ratio, it should reach a top speed of 31 mph. Don’t get your hopes up because this is only a theoretical estimation as the bike hasn’t been ridden yet. Why? Because Michael and James do not have access to a venue that has a smooth-enough surface for those wooden wheels.

BMW Vision EfficientDynamics
It seems that the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics will be a star of the upcoming Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol movie, which will be launched on December 16th this year. A member of the Team-BHP forums managed to grab a spy shot of the concept on the movie’s set.
As a reminder, this concept previews the i8 model which will be launched sometime in 2013. The VED sports an advanced powertrain that uses a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter turbodiesel power unit along with two electric motors, generating 351 hp (356 PS / 262 kW) and 590 lb.-ft (800 Nm) of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), while averaging 63 mpg (3.7 liters / 100 km). On electric mode, the car can be driven for up to 31 miles (50 km).

Good news everybody, a new Transformers 3 trailer is out! If you can’t wait to see machines taking each other on on a monumental scale, here’s something to make you want it even more.

Here is something that you don’t hear every day or better said, something that you hope to avoid: a gas station in a town near Stuttgart, Germany raised the price for super gasoline to a whopping 9.99 Euros / liter on Easter Monday. Why? In their attempt to prevent customers from buying the fuel. Sounds ridiculous, we know.
The German news site “The Local” said that the Esso gas station raised the price to 9.99 Euros / liter due to the reason that it was running low on the fuel amid a nationwide supply shortage.
The funny part is that although there were plenty of signs posted at the pumps, there were several clients that fueled their cars, not knowing the increased price. Once they’ve reached the cash register, they had a very unpleasant surprise. One of these clients had to pay 209.98 Euros for the 21 liters of super gasoline that he put in his BMW. Another one had to pay just less than 200 Euros for 20 liters of fuel.
These angry customers called the local police and refused to pay the bills. However, they were told to pay the gas because otherwise, that Esso station would have made a complaint. Eventually, they’ve paid for the gas, hoping to sort out some sort of agreement with Esso later on.
Due to the Easter traffic, one in five stations in Stuttgart, Germany had no supplies of super gasoline on Monday.

How can you tell that your boss appreciates you? Has he bought you a Bugatti Veyron for your birthday? No? Well then, I guess he doesn?t really like you. But Roberto Carlos‘s boss, Suleiman Kerimov, seems to adore the soccer player, since he was lavished with a $2,600,000 Bugatti for his 38th birthday. Not bad for a birthday present, we’d say.
I guess playing for Anzhi Makhachkala FC has its perks for Roberto. But the other players might get lucky too. Kerimov said that he’s going to buy each player a Veyron if his team will win the Russian soccer championship. I guess it’s just how they do it in Russia.

Here’s what the sign says: first, drivers in the left lane are allowed only to make a sharp left. Drivers in the second lane (from left) can either turn a secondmost sharp or a slightly less sharp left. The ones in the center lane must make a fourthmost sharp left. Drivers in the right-of-center lane will have to turn the fifthmost sharp left or go straight. Lastly, drivers in the far right lane have to either go straight or right. This sign is located in San Francisco, California. Your best bet is to stop the car and continue your trip by foot.

We thought that after last week’s top 10 best movies about cars, another one about the coolest car-related songs is in order. Feel free to suggest other songs that we haven’t included in the top. Some of the songs that made it into Top Gear’s top 10 have also been included here.
Metallica – Fuel

From Metallica’s “ReLoad” album released in 1998, we find “Fuel”, which was used for several years for the televised NASCAR events. In the song, the frontman of the band, James Hetfield, proclaims his love for all cars that are over-driven and chrome-plated.

Smoking tires, a couple of Nissan Skylines and hot chicks. We’d like to say more, but we feel there’s no need for words.
Although you shouldn’t try hanging out from the sunroof, with your hands on the sides of the windshield. It’s kinda stupid and kinda dangerous. But no hot girl was hurt during this process.
