Audi A1 Sportback
Yesterday, Audi revealed the five-door version of the A1 model which as far as the styling is concerned has a lot in common with its three-door sibling. The length of the car (3.95 meters) and the wheelbase (2.47 meters) are exactly the same as the three-door model, while the height and width have increased by 6 mm in order to improve room inside the cabin.

As standard, the Audi A1 Sportback comes with a four-seat configuration but you can order it with a fifth one, no extra charge. The Ingolstadt-based automaker mentioned that shoulder room and headroom have increased about 0.39 inches (1 cm) compared to the three-door model. The trunk of the car has a capacity of 9.53 cu ft. (270 liters) which can be increased by folding down the split rear seat back. Doing so will increase the cargo room to 32.49 cu ft. (920 liters).

In Europe the car will be available with a choice of three gasoline engines and three diesels. The entry-level gasoline engine will be a 1.2-liter TFSI unit that produces 86 hp and manages to return 46.1 mpg (5.1 liters / 100 km), along with two 1.4-liter TFSI engines, one that develops 122 hp and another one that generates 185 hp. With the most powerful engine, the Audi A1 Sportback is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 141 mph (227 km/h).

As for diesels, there are two 1.6-liter TDIs, one with 90 hp and the other with 105 hp. Both of these engines manage to return 61.9 mpg (3.8 liters / 100 km). There’s also a beefier 2.0-liter TDI that fires 143 hp and enables the A1 Sportback to hit 62 mph in 8.5 seconds and return 57.4 mpg (4.1 liters / 100 km).

For the 1.4 TFSI 122 hp engine and the 1.6 TDI 90 hp unit, Audi offers an optional 7-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox, while the 185 hp 1.4 TFSI model gets it as standard.
The car will reach the dealerships in the spring of next year and in Germany it will carry a base price of 16,950 Euros for the model fitted with the 1.2-liter TFSI gasoline engine and in the Attraction trim level. The A1 Sportback equipped with the 1.6 TDI 90 hp engine will cost from 19,050 Euros.
