While Ford is busy promoting its vehicles left and right, it hasn’t forgotten about its partnership with many police departments in the United States, providing them with the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor model.
The company has now announced that it will be launching a brand new Interceptor around 2011, one which will improve the great experience of the Victoria. The Blue Oval has also confirmed that it will be taking into consideration many requests from police officers and trying to implement them in the new model.
“We have heard the repeated requests from the law enforcement community to continue uninterrupted support of the law enforcement community,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Ford is answering the call with the new Police Interceptor – engineered and built in America.”
While the initiative is great, the press release raised a few eyebrows, with many people wondering just what base vehicle will be used for the endeavor. Rumors are already circulating about a US-spec Ford Falcon from Australia or even a highly customized Ford Taurus model.
All we can do is wait until the beginning of 2010, when Ford promise to release more details on the new PI.
