Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

Today at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show, the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has revealed the 4C Concept, a two-seat RWD sport coupe that is about 4 meters long and has a wheelbase of only 2.4 meters. It has a mid-rear mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged power unit, allowing the vehicle to have a 60/40 weight distribution.

Much of the materials and the technology available on this car were borrowed from the 8C Competizione. It has a lightweight chassis and carbon fiber / aluminum body structures, allowing the car to have a curb weight of only 1874 lbs (850 kg).

The “4C” designation comes from the 4-cylinder (4C) 1750 Turbo Multi-Air unit which in this configuration outputs 197 hp (200 PS / 147 kW), the same as the one on the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. This engine is mated to Alfa’s new TCT automatic twin dry clutch transmission that was first launched on the MiTo model a couple of months ago.

The production version of the 4C Concept will be launched sometime in 2012.
