A couple of weeks ago, Land Rover announced that they will bring to the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show the Rover Range_e model. They’ve kept their promise and unveiled their diesel-electric hybrid that couples the 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel to an electric motor.

The diesel engine produces 242 hp (245 PS / 180 kW) while the electric motor outputs 93 hp (94 PS / 69 kW), meaning that the total power figure is 334 hp (339 PS / 249 kW). The transmission of this hybrid is an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox and the electric motor is powered by a 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The Land Rover Range_e can be driven in electric mode for 20 miles (32 km) and the SUV’s total range is 690 miles (1,112 km). The automaker said that the car will consume only 3.36 liters / 100 km and have CO2 emissions of 89 g/km – I for one don’t think that a car of this size can be that efficient.

The company is still testing the model but its plans are to introduce a production version as soon as possible. We’ll keep you posted.
