Opel Ampera

At the beginning of this week Opel revealed the production version of the soon-to-be-released Ampera plug-in hybrid. The car’s specifications are the same as we previously mentioned, which means that it will have a total power output of 150 hp (152 PS / 111 kW) and 273 lb.-ft (370 Nm) of torque.

It will be able to do the 0-60 mph sprint in 9 seconds and hit a top speed of 99 mph (161 km/h). On electric model, the Ampera can be driven for about 25 to 50 miles (40 to 80 km). This range is extended once the 1.4-liter conventional engine kicks in to power the electric motor or recharge the 16 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The Opel Ampera will be available with four drive modes: Normal, Sport, Mountain and City.

The German automaker has established a uniform price for the Ampera for all the European markets, standing at 42,900 Euros. In its homeland, the plug-in hybrid will cost only 36,050 Euros thanks to the government tax credits.
