VW Golf 6 Cabrio

A week ago, the German automaker Volkswagen announced that it will bring to this year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show, the new Golf 6 Cabriolet and they’ve kept their promise. The model has a few design features that make it stand out from the standard Golf sibling, aside from the top of course. It has a more sloped windscreen, a lower profile roof line and an updated design out in the back.

The soft top that was especially developed for the Golf 6 Cabrio can be opened and closed at speeds of up to 18.7 mph (30 km/h). Regarding the safety features, it has side airbags for the head/thorax, a knee airbag, along with an automatically deploying roll-over bar.

The car will be offered with a bundle of engine choices, ranging from an entry-level 105 hp (105 PS / 77 kW) unit to the high-end 2.0-liter TFSI plant that develops 207 hp (210 PS / 155 kW). These engines will be mated with either a 6-speed manual transmission or the DSG double-clutch gearbox.

The Golf 6 Cabrio fitted with the 1.6-liter TDI that produces 105 hp features the BlueMotion technology, allowing the car to consume only 4.4 liters / 100 km and CO2 emissions of117 g/km.

The car will go on sale in Europe this spring and in Germany it will have a base price of 23,625 Euros.
