2012 will be an incredible year for Lamborghini, because the team of engineers and designers will release a brand new model. This time the big reveal won’t be focused on a spectacular sports car, but on a SUV signed by Lamborghini. This is an event many of us have been waiting for and it was about time. Porsche has already started its crossover business and Aston Martin has announced the release of a Lagonda model. 2012 has to be the year of a brand new Lamborghini SUV.
So, it’s time you get ready for the 2012 Lamborghini LM00X SUV. This Lamborghini LM is designed by a Belgian named David Cardoso and will impress with its typical Lamborghini lines. This compact four-seat SUV is also known as the “Conquisto”. It’s the latest generation of the well known Lamborghini LM002 truck. The LM002 was the last off-road car manufactured by the Italian automaker for the army. But, in the end one single unit was produced because the car was too impractical and small for the army’s needs. In fact, this new Lamborghini LM will be a mixture between a SUV and a sports car for which the team will use as main material carbon fiber. As a result, the 2012 Lamborghini LM00X will be lighter than any other SUV available on the market.
You may wonder how it will look. There are only rumors, but it seems that it will preserve the frontal look of the “classic” Lamborghini while its rear will be similar to those of the Lamborghini sports cars, but a little higher. You can consider it a taller version of the Gallardo which is pretty good for a SUV. It’s also possible that the Lamborghini LM00X will borrow some features from the Porsche Cajun or the Audi Q5. So, don’t be surprised if you notice some design features belonging to one of those cars. In fact, it’s very likely that the 2012 Lamborghini LM00X will use the Audi Q5 platform which is also used on the upcoming Porsche Cajun. Also expect some serious adjustments regarding the brake system, the suspension and the dampers which will equip this incredible Lamborghini SUV.
Under the hood, the powertrain will make the difference. You know that the original Lamborghini LM002 was a powerful and monstrous vehicle equipped with a V12 engine which offered enough power for a driver who enjoys tougher road conditions. But the 2012 Lamborghini LM00X will be equipped with a 4.0 liters V8 twin-turbocharged engine able to produce around 550 horsepower. As a result, this three door crossover will be able to go from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. This Lamborghini LM will also be equipped with a four-wheel drive system.
The purchase price for the 2012 Lamborghini LM00X is estimated at around 120,000 Euros. Considering the price and the overall features of this Lamborghini crossover, I’m sure it will be a fierce competitor of the Porsche Cajun, the Range Rover Evoque and the Aston Martin Lagonda. The Lamborghini will be in advantage because the Lagonda and the Cajun haven’t been released yet and the Evoque will have a different price tag. If you are interested in the exact date when the car will become available on the market, rumors say that the year will definitely be 2012 or 2013.
The 2012 Lamborghini LM00X is certainly taking its time to become reality but the wait will be worth it as long as the result will be as impressive as the Lamborghini sports cars we all stop to admire and wish we could afford…
