Mini made a lot of fans extremely excited at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show last year, when it showcased the Roadster and Coupe concepts. Furthermore, reports that the models will be rushed into production as early as 2011 have further increased the hype around them.
Now, as a new testimony to the fact that they will appear soon enough in production-form, a set of leaked patent application images have been dug up by the guys at Autoblog. As you can see above and below, the Roadster (convertible) and the Coupe models look basically the same as the concepts, at least on the outside.
No pics of the interior were revealed, so that is still up in the air. Using a bit of logic though, we might find elements from the newly released Countryman in the two future models. Either way, expect them to hit the market in early 2011, with a selection of 1.6-liter engines, either naturally aspirated or turbocharged. Guessing from these sketches, a reveal at a major auto show isn’t too far away.
