Mazda Unveils MX-5 Kuro Special Edition

Back in August last year the Japanese automaker Mazda introduced the Kuro special edition of the Juke, and now almost a year later they’ve did the same thing for the popular MX-5. There are in fact two special Kuro (meaning black) editions of the Miata, the soft-top version with a 124 hp 1.8-liter engine and the roadster coupe which is powered by a 158 hp 2.0-liter engine.

These special editions are based on the MX-5 SE and Sport Tech versions part of the current MX-5 lineup and come with additional goodies such as a rear diffuser, a big sports exhaust and black accents on the front grille surround as well as on the fog light surrounds. As you would expect, Mazda slaps a couple of Kuro Edition badges so that you don’t forget how special your MX-5 is.

All of the cars will be getting black door mirrors, a black roof, while customers will be able to choose from one of the three following colors: Crystal White Pearlescent, Velocity Red Mica and Brilliant Black. Inside the cabin, the Miata’s heated seats will be wrapped around in black & stone-colored leather, while the door inserts will also be covered by that stone leather. The cabin will also get some red contrasting stitching.

Mazda has said that they’ll be making only 200 units of the 1.8-liter version, while the more powerful 2.0-liter model will be made in 400 units.
