2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG
The German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has decided to reveal the new generation of the SLK 55 AMG before its official debut that will occur next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. From the looks of these official photos we notice the new aerodynamic kit and the smoked out lights, along with the bigger black alloys. The cabin is wrapped around in stitched leather and packs a pair of sports seats.

Under the hood it features a new AMG V8 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine that fires 422 hp and 540 Nm in the European version and 415 hp and 398 lb.-ft or the U.S.-spec model. The engine is made out of aluminum and comes with AMG’s Cylinder Management that can improve fuel efficiency by shutting off four cylinders from 800 to 3,600 RPM.

The engine is going to be linked to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox that sends the power to the rear wheels and has three modes: Sport, Manual and Efficiency. According to the automaker, the car is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.6 seconds, on its way to a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The company estimates that the new generation of the SLK 55 AMG has a fuel consumption of 8.5 liters / 100 km, which is 3.5 liters less than the outgoing model that featured a V8 engine with 360 hp.
