2012 Mercedes-Benz ML By Brabus

The German tuner Brabus revealed a few days ago its upgrade kit for the non-AMG 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML. They took the 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC model and fitted it with the ECO PowerXtra D6S performance kit. With this upgrade, the SUV delivers 306 hp (225 kW) @ 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 509 lb.-ft (690 Nm) reached between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm.

Brabus mentioned that the car is now capable of hitting 62 mph from start in only 6 seconds, which is 1.4 seconds quicker than the production model and it is able reach a maximum speed of 142 mph (229 km/h).

This tuning program also brings a new body kit that consists of a redesigned front bumper, spoiler, side skirts, rear spoiler, fender attachments and a rear bumper that houses a diffuser. The car can ride on wheels up to a size of 22 inches, while the Bilstein suspension kit can bring it closer to the ground by up to 30 mm. They also developed a new AIRMATIC suspension kit for the sporty SUV which can lower the height of the car between 30 and 40 mm.

More power requires beefier brakes so the ML by Brabus comes with 6-piston fixed aluminum calipers and vented / cross-drilled discs on the front that measure 16 x 1.3 inches. For the rear wheels it has 4-piston fixed aluminum calipers and 15 x 1.1 inches discs.

2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG

Our esteemed colleagues from WorldCarFans have managed to grab a couple of spy shots with the upcoming AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz ML63. These photos were taken near the automaker’s Nurburgring testing facility and we can see that it will have an updated front grille, restyled bumpers and a very nice four-tailpipe exhaust system. Aside from these, expect to see AMG wheels, bigger brakes and a sport-tuned suspension.

2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG

The 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG will probably be powered by a twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter that will produce 518 hp (525 PS / 386 kW) and a peak torque of 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm). This engine is going to be mated to a 7-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox which should be enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in less than 5 seconds.

2012 Mercedes ML

It was only two days ago when we uploaded a spy video of the forthcoming 2012 Mercedes ML-Class and now we have a new batch of spy shots, courtesy of Carscoop.com. The car you see in these photos wears less camo and we can observe that the differences between the outgoing model and the new one are not that striking as you might have expected from a brand new generation.

2012 Mercedes ML

It is more like a facelift, which isn’t that bad at all as I’ve always liked the ML. Behind that camo we can see a slightly boxier shape with more sculpted lines, longer tail lamps, along with a more angular grille up front. Inside the cabin, Mercedes redesigned the ML’s dashboard and now features a more prominent center console that has a new switchgear and a generous LCD screen for the infotainment system.

2012 Mercedes ML

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class shares its chassis with the Dodge Durango and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. At first, the SUV will come with the automaker’s newest gasoline power units, including here a V6 3.5-liter and a more powerful V8 4.6-liter engine, along with their regular batch of V6 diesels. In the works are also a plug-in hybrid, along with the AMG model that will feature the company’s new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8, which will replace the current naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter.

A spy video of the forthcoming 2012 Mercedes ML has surfaced the Internet this week, showing a few camouflaged prototypes testing in Sweden’s cold weather. Although the German automaker did not reveal any information about the new generation of this model, we can make certain speculations. Most likely, the new ML will be available with a choice between gasoline and diesel engines, with a 2WD configuration or a 4Matic AWD system. Probably there is going to be an AMG version of the model which will be launched later on after the standard model will hit the dealerships.

The non-AMG version will probably be fitted with a V6 3.5-liter gasoline engine that will crank out 300 hp, or a more powerful V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo. We don’t know any info about what diesel engines will be available for the SUV. What we think is that the car will benefit from some eco-friendly technologies, like the start/stop system for example, along with more efficient engines that eat up less fuel and have lower CO2 emissions.

The AMG version will most likely get an all-new 5.5-liter that will produce more than 500 hp, in order to keep up with the BMW X5M.

Piecha Mercedes ML

I never was a huge fan of SUVs but if I had to buy one it would have to be the ML. The tuners from Piecha Design decided to roll out their upgrade program for the latest generation of this German SUV which can also be installed on the GL-Class X164 due to the fact that these two models are very similar.

Piecha Mercedes ML

The Mercedes ML now rolls on some imposing wheels, measuring 10×22-inch in the front and 11.5×22-inch out in the back. This set of wheels will set you back 6,000 Euros. Other changes include an H&R coilover suspension, which lowers the ML by 35 mm in the front and 50 mm at the rear axle – its price tag is 385 Euros.

As far as the performance of the car is concerned, the engineers installed a Power Converter Intermedia RC (357 Euros) which improves the acceleration as well as the reaction time of the accelerator pedal at low speeds.
