CoverEFX Mini Cooper JCW GP R53
CoverEFX is a vinyl wrap specialist from Germany and their latest project is based on the Mini Cooper JCW. One of the cars that they have developed has a yellow and black theme while the other adopts a blue and black exterior look. Besides the visual upgrades, the car also gets more oomph under the hood, thanks to a mcchip-dkr software that lifts the power by 17 hp and 22 Nm of torque. Other than that, it packs a new exhaust system that has stainless steel manifolds and a down pipe, allowing the engine of the car to develop an impressive 234 hp.

The CoverEFX Mini Cooper JCW GP R53 rides on a set of 17-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels and features a Bilstein B14 suspension kit. Other goodies worth mentioning include the GP charge air cooler, a Schrick camshaft as well as a new air filter box. The new exhaust system has been developed by KBR motorsport and comes with new spark plugs, new fuel injectors and an M7 thermostat. Other than that, the Mini has an H&R 17-mm adjustable rear stabilizer.

Inside the cabin, this special Mini Cooper JCW created by CoverEFX has Recaro sport seats that have been wrapped around in Alcantara.

2012 Mini Cooper B-spec
Mini has introduced last week during the L.A. Auto Show the 2012 Cooper B-Spec which was developed by Mini of Charleston. This turn-key racer has been fitted with a coilover suspension, 15-inch rims with Hoosier tires and Carbotech brakes. Inside the cabin there’s a Kirkey racing seat, window net and a roll cage.

Under the hood there is a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine that develops 121 hp (123 PS / 90 kW) and a maximum torque of 114 lb.-ft (154 Nm). They haven’t released any official details about the performance specifications, but the regular model needs 8.4 seconds for the 0-62 mph sprint, on its way to a top speed of 126 mph (203 km/h).

In order to promote the 2012 Olympic Games sponsorship deal, British athete J.J.Jegede jumped over three Mini cars painted in a special edition design welcoming next year’s world event.
This Mini limited edition will be available in only 2012 cars, each of them branded with London 2012 Cooper logo.

MINI has revealed this week the price list for the Cooper Goodwood and the cheapest one money can buy costs $52,000 in the U.S. This means that the special edition is going to be almost 2.5 times more expensive than the regular Cooper S!

Mini Cooper Soho
As if there haven’t been enough special editions already, Mini has decided to roll out another one, dubbed Soho. If you remember, this name was also used last year for the Clubman model and based on the success of that series, the company has decided to use it for the Mini Cooper as well, which will be available in two body styles: hatch & convertible, along with both gasoline and diesel engines.

As far as the equipment list is concerned, it comes with a metallic White Silver exterior paint, bi-xenon headlights, 17-inch Black Start Bullet alloys, while inside the cabin it has a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped around in leather, anthracite headlining, along with several piano black interior trim parts.
Mini Cooper Soho
The base price for this special edition Mini Cooper Soho is 16,675 pounds for the gasoline-powered hatchback version while the diesel one will set you back at least 18,045 pounds. If you opt for the gasoline convertible, prepare to pay 19,060 pounds while its diesel sibling costs from 20,135 pounds.
This edition will be available for purchase until March next year.

Mini Cooper S By CoverEFX
The vinyl wrap professionals from CoverEFX revealed last week a styling program for the Mini Cooper S. They named it the MINI R53 Project One and aside from the visual updates that you can easily see, they also played a little bit with the car’s engine, increasing the horsepower figure and raising the torque as well.

With the help of the engineers from MR Car Design, they lifted the output of the engine to 240 hp, modifying the turbocharger and remapping the ECU. As you can see, the car rides on 17-inch alloys, dubbed Emotion Wheels and is finished with a two-tone vinyl wrap in teflon gray metallic mixed up with electro red metallic. They also installed smoked headlights and got rid of all the badges.

A fun occupation has been created for car fans: a miniature MINI Cooper that can be controlled by an Android-powered BeeWi, using the Bluetooth connection. The toy has an intuitive motion control from the orientation sensor or the touch-screen interface of a smartphone; it has a fast motor and full directional steering.

Mini Cooper SD
A few days ago Mini revealed a new diesel engine that will equip the Cooper SD, SD Countryman and SD Clubman models. This new power unit is a 4-cyilinder 2.0-litre turbodiesel that outputs 143 hp (105 kW) @ 4,000 rpm and 225 lb.-ft (305 Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 2,700 rpm. This new engine features an all-aluminum crankcase, common-rail direct injection with solenoid-valve injectors and a turbocharger with variable intake geometry.
Mini Cooper SD Convertible
The Mini Cooper SD, available in both hard-top and convertible versions, will do the 0-62 mph in 8.1 seconds, onto a top speed of 134 mph (215 km/h). Regarding the efficiency figures, the car will do 65.7 mpg (4.3 liters / 100 km). The cabrio model is a little bit slower and needs 8.7 seconds to do the sprint while the top speed is 130 mph (210 km/h). The convertible will do 62.8 mpg (4.5 liters / 100 km).
The SD Clubman does the 0-62 mph sprint in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 134 mph (215 km/h). Fuel consumption is 64.2 mpg (4.4 liters / 100 km).
Mini Cooper SD Countryman
As far as the Mini Cooper SD Countryman is concerned, the car is available with both front-wheel drive and the proprietary All4 all-wheel drive system. The car sprints to 62 mph in 9.4 seconds with the All4 system and it needs 9.3 seconds with the front-wheel drive. Top speed is 198 km/h for the FWD system and 195 km/h for the All4. With the front-wheel drive, the Countryman has a fuel economy of 4.6 liters / 100 km and with the All4 it will consume 4.9 liters / 100 km.

MINI Cooper JCW
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the MINI brand, the JCW – John Cooper Works is the company’s official tuning arm and besides producing a wide range of upgrades for the cars it is also responsible for MINI’s motorsports efforts.
Yesterday MINI revealed a new JCW range of factory-fitted accessories available in the kit form. These tuning kits have been available for some time with the hard-top version of the MINI Cooper, pretty soon customers will be able to get them for the convertible version as well.

The full kit will include a JCW aero kit (which can also be purchased separately) that will give the car a more aggressive appearance while lending the front, rear and flanks of the cars a sportier look.
In the front, the JCW-fitted MINI has a deep lower chin with a lower grille opening and functional brake ducts. Other highlights of this package include the custom rear bumper which was modeled off the design of the unit on the MINI challenge cars; and the updated side skirts.

The cars will roll on 17-inch light alloy rims that are available also on the current John Cooper Works cars. In addition, it will come with upgraded brakes and more lenient traction control and electronic differential settings.

As far as the cabin is concerned, the JCW version will bring custom door sills, a leather shift boot which will come with more red stitching for the manual modes, a gearshift knob that will have a red shift pattern and a leather steering wheel.
The upcoming JCW versions of the MINI Cooper will be available starting with the second quarter of this year as factory options.

MINI Cooper Matt Edition
Another Mini Copper special edition is set to debut soon, but this time it will only be available for the French market. Dubbed the Matt Edition, this funky car will come with a – you’ve guessed it – matt black exterior wrap along with special side vents, checked mirror covers and individually-numbered key ring.
The most interesting aspect of this limited edition is without any doubt the special matt black paint job which will be made up of a series of film sheets that can be removed to reveal the car’s real body color.
Under its tiny hood, the Mini Cooper Matt Edition will be available with many engine choices, like the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter unit that can produce 118 hp (120 PS / 88 kW), the more powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged that can churn 208 hp (211 PS / 155 kW) and the 1.6-liter diesel unit that offers 110 hp (112 PS / 82 kW) and a 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque.
Being a special limited edition, Mini will be making only 250 units of the Cooper Matt Edition and the price for this package will cost from 2,800 Euros. The package will be available to order for the Mini Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and the John Cooper Works.

But those are not the reasons we love the Mini Copper like we do. We love the Mini mainly because what it can do. Remember the Italian Job movie? MINI has announced that they partnered with rock artist Paul Weller and created a special one off MINI Cooper which will go on auction for one month, starting with November 11. The money raised will go to charities Nordoff Robins and War Child. The special MINI Cooper features an unique pink and brown stripes exterior finish, 17-inch Crown Spoke alloy wheels, black leather on the interior, front heated seats and Chili Pack.
MINI UK’s Director, Jochen Goller says “Both MINI and Paul Weller are synonymous with the quintessential British mod scene. That’s why we were the ideal match to create this unique car.”
Paul Weller said “I’ve always loved and driven MINIs so when I was given the opportunity to design a bespoke Mini Cooper I wanted to create something that reflected the mood and colours associated with the Mod era, which was also the classic Mini’s hey day. I’d already expressed these colours in a shirt I designed for Ben Sherman a few years ago, so it made sense to me to continue the theme using a MINI Cooper as a palate.”

Lately, we’ve been hearing a lot about new, premium city cars getting ready for launch, like the Audi A1 or Citroen DS3, all targeting the Mini Cooper S.
While Vlad already had a chance to test drive the convertible version last summer, I was still a Mini ‘virgin’ (so to speak). So, after being fed up with Vlad’s constant praise for the British model, I decided to test drive a more special version of the potent little city car, the Mini Cooper S 50 Mayfair edition.

It was a long time coming, but the 2011 Mini range has finally been revealed. The new city car lineup showcases slightly refreshed looks, new technologies and a new diesel engine.
First off, don’t expect any huge changes to the design, as only a few touches have been modified. The front is largely unchanged, but is now much more friendly to pedestrians in case of a crash. The rear taillights have now received LED technology.
The inside houses little changes as well, with new controls for the air conditioning and audio systems being added. More options are now available for the interior, as well as the Mini Connected system. Besides offering navigation and being the command center for the rest of the systems, it will also allow you to connect your iPhone and you can check out videos on the display of the car.
Customization will continue to play an important role for Mini. Even more interesting are the three new ‘design worlds’: Classic, Scene and Rally (hmmm), which are basically configurations of materials and finishes for things like the roof or the upholstery. Of course you can opt for your own customization options, like the Chili Red contrast color, now available for the John Cooper Works performance versions.
The biggest change in the 2011 Mini range is the introduction of a new diesel engine, courtesy of BMW. The four-cylinder is available in two flavors, a 90 HP unit, in the Mini One D, and a 112 HP one in the Cooper D. The claimed fuel average is a mighty impressive 61 mpg (US) or 3.8 liters/100 km, and just 99 g/km of CO2 emissions. For the first time, the Mini Cooper D will also be available in Convertible form.

The Life Ball is one of the biggest fund raising events that benefit AIDS/HIV research in the world. British carmaker Mini has been a long time partner of the charity event, offering unique, one-off models created in partnership with various fashion houses.
Now, for this year’s edition, which will take place in Vienna, on July 17, the British brand is at it again. This time, three designers were chosen to customize specific Mini models, including the Countryman, the Cooper hatch and the Cooper Cabriolet.
Calvin Klein’s creative director, Francisco Costa, took an all-black treatment to the new Countryman crossover. Diane von Furstenberg revealed a red-themed Cooper hatchback model, while Kenneth Cole presented an industrial-themed Cooper Cabrio.
All of the proceeds will go towards the the AIDS/HIV research, a cause to which Mini has contributed over half a million Euros in the ten years it has collaborated with the Life Ball.
