MTM Audi R8 V10 S.W.A.T. Edition

If you though that the Top Marques Monaco is an automotive event only for supercar and luxury car manufacturers, you’d be wrong because there are also plenty of tuning projects displayed. One of them is this Audi R8 V10 S.W.A.T. Edition developed by MTM and is based on the latest Bi-Turbo version developed by the tuning specialist, featuring a V10 5.0-liter engine that is capable of producing 777 hp.

With so much power available, the car can do the 0-60 mph sprint in only 3 seconds, while the 0-124 mph is done in 9.37 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 217 mph. This special edition R8 comes with a 100% chrome wrap combined with a S.W.A.T. theme.

MTM R8 V10 Biturbo

I’ve always liked MTM for their tuning programs, but the looks of their R8 V10 Biturbo are too flashy for my tastes. I don’t think that any car in the world looks good in a chrome exterior, and the Audi R8 is no exception to this rule.

The good thing is that the engine of the R8 has received a little bit of tweaking and can now produce 766 hp (777 PS / 571 kW) and a peak torque of 655 lb.-ft (888 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the bi-turbo kit, the car will be able to hit a top speed of over 224 mph (360 km/h), once the testing is completed. According to, MTM managed to a hit a top speed of “only” 216 mph (347.6 km/h).

The car now sits on 20-inch rims wrapped around in Michelin PS2 rubber. In addition, it sports new 8-piston brakes, a new front lip, and rear spoiler along with a bunch of handling improvements. That powerful engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

When it will be available, the MTM Audi R8 V10 Biturbo will have a very steep price of 400,000 Euros.

The Audi RS6 is one mighty impressive model, offering some great thrills in both sedan and wagon (Avant) form. But the guys at MTM decided that its massive power reserves might be better suited just for track use, revealing the Audi RS6 Clubsport.

What makes this track-focused edition so great? How about an extensive use of carbon fiber, on the front lip and rear diffuser, a new adjustable suspension or a set of black 21-inch wheels with performance tires. For the inside, MTM fitted carbon fiber Recaro race seats, six-point seat belts plus a roll cage in the back.

Up until now, the RS6 Clubsport sounds pretty nice, but how about power? Well, the MTM crew fitted a new high-flow air filter and a stainless steel exhaust. Not mighty impressive, but adding in an ECU optimization program and the 5.0-liter turbocharged V10 now cranks out a whopping 720 HP and 579 lb-ft of torque. Top speed? Around 211 mph, worthy of any capable supercar.

Quick question, what does the Audi R8 need?

Many of you might say nothing, as it is already a very capable sportscar. The guys at MTM don’t think that, and have just revealed the Audi R8 GT3-2 project. Sure, it has a power increase and a new aerodynamic body kit, but what’s so different about this car that sets it apart? How about the fact that MTM disabled the front-wheel drive part of the quattro system, leaving the R8 GT3-2 a pure rear-wheel drive car?

That’s right, after upping the power output to a whopping 552 HP/428 lb-ft by supercharging the 4.2-liter FSI engine, the guys made the car a rear-wheel drive model, offering a “unique sensation behind the wheel of an Audi”. 0 to 62 mph in achieved in 3.9 seconds, while it will be able to reach 197 mph (317 km/h).

Improved suspension, upgraded brakes and a full carbon fiber body kit, consisting of the usual front bumper, with adjustable spoiler, rear wing and diffuser, were also added. The R8 GT3-2 is currently sitting on 29-inch forged wheels.

No word on price for the model, but MTM says all Audi R8 V8 owners can upgrade their Ingolstadt supercar to a GT3-2 model.

What do you think about the Audi TT? “Too slow” you say? How ’bout the TT RS? Still not good enough? Well how about you go to the tuners at MTM, which have just unveiled a three-stage tuning program for the TT RS, which will take the five-cylinder engine to new heights.

The standard Audi TT RS rolls out from the factory with “just” 340 HP and 332 lb-ft of torque, but thanks to some clever tweaking, MTM can take it upward to 424 HP, in the stage three upgrade program. THis is all thanks to upgrades done to the ECU and the exhaust system, as such, a stage three MTM Audi TT RS can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and up to a top speed of 185 mph.

Other enhancements include a set of 19-inch Bimoto wheels, manufactured by MTM as well as 15-inch brakes boasting eight-piston calipers and lowering springs fitted to the suspension.

Not content with the stock 211 HP that the Volkswagen Golf GTI offers, and also not happy with waiting for the upcoming Golf R to be available on the market, German tuning house MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) has just revealed a new performance and visual kit for the sixth generation of the Golf GTI.

Through some heavy tinkering and engine upgrades, the team managed to get the new Golf GTI to performance levels equal to the future Golf R, meaning figures around 270 HP and a torque of 400 Nm. The new, electronically limited maximum speed is now 265 km/h, and, according to MTM, the upgrades have in no way reduced the life span of the GTI’s 2-liter engine.

Other modifications include a new Brembo braking system which have eight-piston calipers around 380 mm discs and a new set of MTM Bimoto 19-inch rims, wrapped in Continenatl XL Sportcont tires. Overall, if you are very fond of the GTI and want to increase its performance, then you should really consider this package.

For some of us, a 580 hp car will do it but apparently for others, that just isn’t enough. Because German tuner MTM developed two tuning programs for the Audi RS6 Avant which makes the German wagon even faster than it already is. The ‘entry-level’ package features electronic ECU modifications only which increase the engine’s power output to 656 bhp at 6,180 rpm and 785 Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is made in 3.9 seconds and the top speed can be electronically set to 279, 290 or 310 km/h (173, 180 or 192 mph).

However, the really cool package is the other one, which features a stainless steel sxhaust system with throttle control downstream from the catalytic converter and a sports air filter. With these upgrades, the RS6 Avant develops an impressive 702 hp. There are no extra details about this package, because the project is currently under development. The packages cost 3,999 Euros and 9,950 Euros.

On the outside, MTM has fitted the Audi RS6 Avant with a carbon-fiber front spoiler lip, a carbon-fiber rear diffuser, six-piston monoblock brake calipers with slotted brake disks and 21″ MTM bimoto wheels. MTM offers this entire suite of compoents for the RS6 R which includes power-boosted engine, modified breathing, exhaust system, suspension struts and 21-inch wheels for a package price starting from 15,500 EUR.

The Audi A5 is definitely in my top 5 cars, because it’s simply an awesome car. And here’s a tuning program for the 3.0-litre V6 TDI version, developed by the German tuner MTM, dubbed ‘Thunderbolt’. The V6′s power output was increased from 240 hp to 300 hp and the MTM A5 sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds, while the top speed is 165 mph (265 km/h). The power increase comes from an optimized engine map, with the help of a 3D software, while handling is improved by using a perfectly tuned coilover suspension and 8-piston fixed calipers and 380x34mm semi-perforated brake discs.

MTM also created a body kit for the A5, featuring an S5 radiator grille, a rear lower bumper portion combines with 4-pipe rear muffler and 21 inch MTM “bimoto” wheels, that come in Shiny Silver, Titanium and Diamond Cut finishes.
