2012 Euro-spec Honda Civic
Honda has released at the beginning of this week new details about the upcoming Euro-spec 2012 Civic five-door model. The car has been developed to provide maximum efficiency and comes with an aerodynamic shape with streamlined mirrors, a lower front fascia and drag-optimized taillights. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Civic is 20mm lower and 10mm wider which gives it a more masculine and aggressive stance which can be enhanced by the 17-inch wheels offered as an optional feature.

As far as the interior cabin is concerned, the new model comes with a redesigned steering wheel, “soft touch” plastics and a touchscreen infotainment system. Other goodies included we should mention is the additional sound deadening material, along with Bluetooth connectivity and a trunk that can hold 14.2 cubic feet (401 liters) of luggage.

The car will be available with a choice of three engines. The first one is a 1.4-liter i-VTEC unit that develops 98 hp (100 PS / 73 kW) and a peak torque of 94 lb.-ft (127 Nm). With this engine, the Civic is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 13.4 seconds, on its way to a maximum speed of 116 mph (187 km/h). It has a fuel consumption of 5.4 liters / 100 km (52.3 mp imp) while the CO2 emissions stand at 129 g/km.

A beefier engine is the 1.8-liter i-VTEC that churns 139 hp (142 PS / 104 kW) and a maximum torque of 128 lb.-ft (174 Nm). Fitted with this engine, the 2012 Honda Civic can reach 62 mph from start in 9.1 seconds, en route to a top speed of 134 mph (215 km/h). This version has a fuel consumption of 5.8 liters / 100 km (48.7 mpg imp) while the CO2 emissions are of 137 g/km.

For those of you who prefer diesels, the new Civic can be ordered with a 2.2-liter i-DTEC that generates 148 hp (150 PS / 110 kW) and 258 lb.-ft (350 Nm) of torque. The 0-62 mph sprint is done in 8.5 seconds while the top speed is 135 mph (217 km/h). Not only it is the fastest engine of the three, but it’s also the most economical as it has a fuel consumption of only 4.2 liters / 100 km (67.2 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 110 g/km.
