The German tuner Carlsson presented their latest creation, the Carlsson CK50 tuning program for the new Mercedes Benz SL500. By installing a new electronic control unit (ECU), the 5.5 liter V8 engine now produces 435 hp / 320 kW at 6,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque, 53 hp more than the factory version (388 hp / 285 kW). Carlsson also removed the speed limit and the car now goes up to 293 km/h (182 mph), while the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in 5.1 seconds.
Besides the engine mods, the Carlsson CK50 also features a new exhaust system with four polished tailpipes, a length-adjustable front spoiler, rear diffuser with air conduction system and rear spoiler. The sportier look is given by the 30 mm lowered suspension, electro-polished grille inserts and 19 or 20 inch light-weight multi-spoke wheels.
