Nissan Axes The Altima Hybrid – rpmGo.com

2010 Nissan Altima Sedan

We have some rather surprising news coming from Nissan as they’ve recently announced that the hybrid version of the Altima has been discontinued. We say surprising because the prices for fuel are approaching all-time highs so at least theoretically, customers are turning their heads towards these fuel efficient cars.

The Nissan Altima Hybrid was introduced in the United States in 2007 and the Japanese automaker has managed to sell 35,000 units which is not too bad if we take into consideration the fact that it was only available in seven states.

Another reason why the car was axed is because it used the hybrid technology developed by Toyota which in the near future will be replaced by Nissan’s own hybrid system, the one that we already saw on the Infiniti M35h.
