2011 Lumma CLR X650

Besides the CLR 558 GT based on the Porsche Cayenne, the engineers at Lumma are also working on the CLR X650, based on the BMW X6. The car will have its official debut next month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

2011 Lumma CLR X650

The exterior modifications brought over the standard model would have to be the redesigned front spoiler, the updated rear bumper, side skirts and the sportier-looking bonnet. The CLR X650 will also feature carbon fiber inserts on the rear lip, on the mirror covers, front kidneys and on the headlamp visors.

Inside the cabin, the car will benefit from a leather upholstered sports steering wheel and leather-covered carbon-look interior ledges. The entire cabin is covered in a black and beige leather upholstery, complemented by the decorative seams in contrasting color. It also sports color coordinated instruments plus aluminum pedals with anti-slip rubber coating, something that you’ll also find in the CLR 558 GT. Four individual Recaro sports shell seats come as standard with this model.

The increased performance will only be available for the diesel engine which will boost the power to 340 hp, thanks to the accelerator pedal power module along with the new sports exhaust system. With this engine, the maximum torque available is 670 Nm.

This SUV will also get a sports spring kit for both axles, making the X6 about 40 mm lower, promising even more agile driving. The CLR X650 is going to sit on 10×22-inch front wheels and 12×22-inch rear wheels, wrapped around in performance tires that measure 295/30 and 333/25.

2012 Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

The other day Dodge released a really cool-named version of their Challenger SRT8 model, dubbed “Green Envy”. Today we’re going to talk about another car with an interesting name, the 2012 Nissan GT-R “Egoist Edition”. This new edition joins the other already available: Pure Edition, Black Edition, Premium Edition, SpecV and Club Track. The most interesting thing about this one, aside from its cool name, would have to be that it is the first and only GT-R exclusively created by Takumi.

Each of the cars will be unique, as the buyers will have the possibility to choose from a combination of 20 interior colors. Under the hood of this beast will be the standard GT-R engine, and by standard we mean 530 hp @ 6,400 rpm / 612 Nm @ 3,200 – 6,000 rpm, coming from the V6 3.8-liter twin turbo, mated to a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. This allows the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 3 seconds, onto a top speed of 195 mph. Despite it is a very powerful engine, fuel consumption is rated at 8.5 liters / km.

2012 Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

Moving on to the exterior changes, this “Egoist Edition” benefits from a black carbon rear spoiler that you will also see in the SpecV model, which was added in order to improve the aerodynamic performances of the GT-R. The car rolls on highly-rigid forged aluminum-alloy rims that are offered in a 5-layer Blue Sword Chrome Color Coating. This special edition GT-R also got a Titanium exhaust system.

More significant modifications can be seen inside the cabin. As we mentioned before, buyers will have to choose from 20 colors, 4 upper area interior colors as well as 10 lower area interior colors. The seats of the “Egoist Edition” have an exclusive quilted design that has single and double stitching combined in a reticular pattern.

Those lucky enough to buy the car will also get a Bose Precision Sound System that has carbon composite-based woofers. More than that, Bose will adjust the sound quality for each owner, depending upon the individual driving position.

The 2012 Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition will be available only in Japan at a starting price of 15,000,300 Yen (approximately $184,500 at the current rates).

2011 Lumma CLR 558 GT

Ever since its launch, the Porsche Cayenne has been in the spotlight of many tuners. Lumma Design decided to roll out their view of this popular German SUV. Dubbed the CLR 558 GT, this Cayenne-sourced Lumma Design model features a lot of exterior and interior changes along with a very welcomed engine update.

On the outside, the Porsche Cayenne got a new front spoiler, redesigned side skirts, an updated rear bumper, a sportier bonnet and rear spoiler, along with many carbon elements used for the rear diffuser, the rear lip and the front spoiler bottom. The car also got a new exhaust system that has a 100 mm middle tailpipe, flanked by the two 80 mm ones on the sides. The Cayenne now rolls on massive 22-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin you’ll find a two-tone leather upholstery and plenty of Alcantara on the plastic coverings. It also offers carbon-looking interior ledges, aluminum pedals with anti-slip rubber coating, color-coordinated instruments and a brand new ergonomically-shaped sports steering wheel.

VF Engineering 2011 BMW M3

The 2011 BMW M3 is one of the coolest cars ever made. What happens if you tune it? It gets better. The guys over at VF Engineering took the latest generation of the M3 and made a couple of changes, the most significant one would be under the hood.

VF Engineering 2011 BMW M3

The foundation for this project was a Vorsteiner carbon fiber GTRS3 widebody kit. They’ve added a brand new set of 20-inch rims, a custom intake manifold craved from a solid black aluminum and new Brembo brakes.

VF Engineering 2011 BMW M3

The most important change would have to be under that beautiful hood. The car’s V8 engine was upgraded with a Vortech supercharger. In addition, the M3 also got a custom aluminum air intake and a remap of the ECU. The result? The engine offers now 620 hp which is a whopping 200 hp more in comparison to the standard version!

2011 Arden Range Rover AR 7 Highlander

Yesterday we’ve talked about the most luxurious Range Rover ever made. Today we look at Arden’s version of the Range Rover, dubbed AR 7 Highlander. The German engineers over at Arden became popular for rolling out some interesting tuning programs for the Land Rover models. The last one offers both exterior and interior updates, along with a 50 hp power increase.

2011 Arden Range Rover AR 7 Highlander

Design-wise, it has a new wide body aerodynamic package that includes a redesigned front fascia (which isn’t very appropriate for the car in my opinion), side skirts, rear aprons, fender flares and hand-made stainless steel grilles.

To get that 50 hp increase, the engineers at Arden fitted the Range Rover with a new stainless steel sport exhaust system. The SUV also got an electronic suspension module which will work in tandem with the new 22-inch Arden Dakar II light alloy rims. The AR7 Highlander offers a high-performance brake system to match the increased power.

2011 Arden Range Rover AR 7 Highlander

As far as the cabin is concerned, the car benefits from a new center console that has a mini-bar and is wrapped in the finest materials available today. The bar has a cooling unit that has a low power consumption. How low? Even if you stop the vehicle it will be able to maintain a constant temperature.

We’ll let you know once they announce the price list for this tuned Range Rover.

2012 Hyundai Genesis

I’ve always considered the Hyundai Genesis a more affordable S-Class due to its aesthetics resemblances, especially in the front. The 2012 model follows the same recipe as the previous generations but I have to say that it looks very nice. If someone showed me the car without the Hyundai badge, I’d probably say that no way this could be a Korean car.

2012 Hyundai Genesis

Presented yesterday at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, the most interesting improvement over the older model is the flagship version, dubbed R-Spec, which benefits from a powerful V8 5.0-liter engine that features a high-pressure direct injection system. In addition, the engineers at Hyundai said that they also improved the V6 direct injection engine and have added a brand new 8-speed gearbox.

2012 Hyundai Genesis

The new generation of the V6 3.6-liter engine offers 15% more ponies than the previous unit, which means that it is capable of outputting 333 hp, quite impressive for a Hyundai. In addition, the engine is now more fuel efficient and the CO2 emissions have been reduced.

2012 Hyundai Genesis

Design-wise, the 2012 Hyundai Genesis got a more aggressive front fascia and grille along with new headlights with LED daytime running lights, folding mirrors with integrated puddle lamps and sportier rocker panels. The car now sits on 17-inch alloy rims and the rear lights have been restyled.

2011 KTM X-Bow

New information has been revealed about the very interesting Alfa Romeo 4C GTA which will most likely be based on the KTM X-Bow. The power will come from either a 4-cylinder engine that outputs 250 hp or a 1.750 TBi power unit that produces 265 hp. Other sources say that the car will benefit from a 4-cylinder 1.8 turbo engine with direct injection that will produce about 250 hp.

This car is expected to have a curb weight of only about 800 kg, which means that it will provide an excellent power-to-weight ratio of around 3.2 kg / hp, or 310 hp / ton. To reduce the weight of the 4C GTA as much as possible, the engineers will use carbon fiber and aluminum for the chassis along with various carbon body panels.

The car will definitely have a mid-engine, RWD architecture and the engine will most likely be mated to a manual gearbox.

While some people say that the car will not go into production, others say that it will be available for about 42,000 Euros.

The official debut of the Alfa Romeo 4C GTA will occur next month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Stay tuned.

Good news! Test Drive Unlimited 2 is now available for the PC/PS3/XBOX360 platforms and you can find it at your local retail store for $50.

I managed to grab an early copy (legal) of the game and I spent a couple of hours in single player mode. First of all, the island is huge and very well thought – combining both city and rural roads. What I have been missing most from driving games is the transition between night and day. There are a couple of games that have this feature but Atari did one hell of a job on TDU2 with this effect. I shouldn’t even call it an effect because the transition is very natural, like in real life.

TDU2 has also a whole bunch of other features that make it stand out from the rest of the crowd, like the possibility to buy clothing, properties as well as other accouterments of a luxurious international lifestyle – think Grand Theft Auto.

It has just about every car you’d ever wanted, here are a few examples: Pagani Zonda, Ferrari California, Nissan GT-R, Ford Mustang Fastback, Spyker C12 Zagato, Aston Martin One-77, McLaren MP4-12C and my personal favorite, the exquisite Lotus Evora.

Another thing that I like about Test Drive Unlimited 2 is that all the cars have an interior view and the cockpits are pretty good, not as good as in Gran Turismo 5 or Forza 3, but can’t complain. They look very nice during the night, something that you won’t in Forza 3 and only a few tracks in GT5 have night mode.

From what I’ve played, the career seems to be pretty long and it was a nice surprise to see that they managed to blend on-road races with off-road ones.

Moving on to what I don’t like. First of all, the conversations between the characters in the game are borderline embarrassing. Second, if you haven’t played many arcade racing games before; it will be quite difficult for you to control the cars. In addition, sometimes they behave rather unusual and can get a little bit annoying, but give it time and you’ll get the hang of it.

I’ve noticed that it has only two radio stations, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. Although I can’t complain with the lack of other stations, I do believe that they should have added more tracks as pretty soon they can become repetitive. I still can’t understand why video game developers don’t introduce a feature that allows you to copy MP3s to the HDD of the XBOX360/PS3 so that you can listen to your favorite songs while playing the games. I am not a video game developer, but I don’t think that this is a hard thing to do – again, correct me if I’m wrong.

Another feature of the game is gaining XP points in the Social, Discovery, Competition and Collection categories by doing related activities, like making a community challenge – Social, finishing photography assignments – Discovery, beating other races in competitions – Competition, purchasing houses – Collection, and a lot more. These four categories make up your overall rank in the game.

Although these categories are separated, they actually feed into each other. To give you a relevant example, if you drive around and find new roads and manufacturer-specific upgrade shops, you’ll earn Discovery points. By exploring the vast island you will find various showrooms that may be necessary to compete in a race as well as further your burgeoning car collection for the Collection category.

I haven’t tried out the online gameplay due to lack of time, but taking into consideration that the game has plenty to offer even in single player mode, online it should be even more impressive.

Despite of all these flaws, the game is pretty good and it’s most important asset is the beautiful and complex island, complemented by the day/night transition I’ve mentioned before. I think that the control of the cars could have been better – maybe, with a steering wheel it is more pleasurable.

Although it was launched in October, 2007, GRID remains my favorite racing game of all times, the level of realism is just amazing. I’m eager to play DIRT 3 (which from what I’ve heard will be the last game from the franchise) and Forza 4. As far as Shift 2 is concerned, I hope that it will be the simulator that the first one should have been in the first place.

In a world dominated by the Need For Speed games that keep coming out year after year (like CODs), it is good to have something else to play. If you’ve played the first part of the game, TDU2 follows the same recipe, but improves it here and there.

Unfortunately we can’t offer you any info about top speed or the 0-62 mph sprint time as Chevrolet didn’t said anything about them, but I’m sure they will anytime soon.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

In addition to this very impressive engine, the new ZL1 features a bundle of technologies, like the Magnetic Ride Control, along with the vented carbon fiber hood insert and the updated aerodynamics. The front suspension of this muscle car consists of a double-ball-joint, multi-link strut, direct-acting stabilizer bar while the back one sports progressive-rate coil springs and a 4.5-link independent unit with progressive-rate coil over shocks and a stabilizer bar.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

To stop efficiently, the Camaro ZL1 packs Brembo brakes with two-piece discs (ventilated) for the front wheels and one-piece rear rotors and 6-piston fixed aluminum calipers on the front and 4-piston calipers for the back.

As far as the entertainment offerings are concerned, the ZL1 comes with a Boston Acoustics audio system and Bluetooth support. In addition, it features a rear camera system and rear parking assist.
