The Mitsubishi Evo X you see in these pics is one of the first ones ordered in Arizona, back in February, and it was modified by the tuning company Vivid Racing, who claims this is the first fully built Evo X in the United States. One thing’s for sure, it looks really good.

The tuning program includes a full Test & Service body kit by Valdi Sport of Japan with a carbon fiber APR GTC rear wing and black IForged 3pc wheels. Mechanical upgrades include JIC Magic FL-TAR coilover suspension with Agency Power rear adjustable control arms, while under the hood Vivid fitted the engine with an Agency Power twin scroll GT35R turbo kit, Agency Power carbon fiber engine cover cold air intake kit, upgraded injectors and fuel pump, all that taking the engine’s power output up to 650 hp.

We’ve already seen spy shots and some sketches of the new Opel/Saturn/Vauxhall Astra and now GM has decided to tease us a little more, by releasing a photo of the car covered with a semi-transparent veil. Now I don’t know why everyone says that the car will make its debut next year at Frankfurt, because the car seems ready to take off and, who knows, maybe we’ll get to see it in Paris next month. I mean, why would you release a teaser one year before the launch, just doesn’t make sense. Just as a reminder, the new Astra borrows a lot from its bigger sister, the Insignia, such as the exterior styling and a series of features like the Front Camera System or the Adaptive Front Lighting (AFL).

Citroen has announced that the latest addition to their range, the Citroen C3 Picasso will make its debut next month, at the Paris Motor Show. The small MPV, the third member of the Picasso family, after the Xsara and the C4 Picasso, is 4.08 meters long, 1.73 m wide and 1.62 m tall, and features a cube-like body shape, with short front end and vertical rear. The interior space is optimized through Citroen’s modular design, with split-folding rear seats that slide back and forth independently, while the flat load surface extends right up to the front seatbacks and can be extended by folding the back of the front passenger seat.

Under the hood, the Citroen C3 Picasso will be available with four engine, two petrol and two diesels. The VTi petrol units, developed in cooperation with BMW, develop 95 and 120 hp (the latter complying with futre Euro 5 pollution standards), while the two diesel units, a 90 hp HDi and a 110 HDi DPFS achieve CO2 emissions of 125g/km and 130g/km respectively.

After its Paris debut, the C3 Picasso also has an UK launch scheduled for next year. Read more about the car in the official press release.

We’ve already gotten used to the big german tuners concetrating on all the major limousines and sport models from their country’s manufacturers, but sometimes, they decide to look at other models to prove their skill. Such was the case when Mercedes launch the Smart, 10 years ago, since then, reputed tuners have tinkered with the city model, like Brabus or others. Now we see an aerodynamics kit for the Smart ForTwo from Carlsson, and it really looks good, bringing a dose of agressiveness to the model.

The kit is consisted of a spoiler extending the stock front bumper, a grill insert of polished stainless steel, specially designed chrome cased fog lights, a rear diffuser and chromed muffler. Also, for the gasoline versions, Carlsson offers four stainless steel end pipes as a feature. Yeah, we know this is not a car, but it has four wheels and it’s mega cool. We’re no jetski or ATV experts, but we definitely wouldn’t mind going for a ride with that, especially if it comes with the girl included.

The Quadski is a cross between a jetski and a quad-bike and is capable of travelling up to 50mph (72 kph) on both land and water.

Change is the most describing word for the current and future design line for Mercedes-Benz, after the brave change for the C-Class, the next one set for a new appearance is bigger brother, the E-Class. Already a lot of spyshots and other materials have surfaced, betraying the bold new line the designers have took, but this new concept is rumoured to represent a lot of ideas that will be implemented for the next generation E-Class, in both sedan and the highly anticipated coupe version.

It sure is a nice design, both futuristic and agressive, but you can clearly distinguish an elegance emanating from the bold lines and angles of the car. The exterior is highly personalized by the 2-piece headlights and the extended rear tail lights that give it a certain unique look. On the inside, Mercedes say that a V-shape of the outside is continued on the interior, with a dashboard displaying five tubes and silver dials, and the cabin can hold 4 passengers and their luggage quite easily.

In terms of power, the concept is set to be graced with the presence of new generation fuel-efficient engines, like the BluEfficiency one that will appear on the C250 CDI model, presented earlier today. Here at AutoUnleashed we sure like the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, it’s a great looking car, really taking the image of the classic american muscle car to the next level in terms of design and keeping the power it made it famous. We already told you the specs for this top of the range SS (Super Sport) version here, and now we’re back with new high resolution pics of this car.

Mercedes-Benz really takes an interest in the reliability of their engines and their fuel efficiency, having spent lots of funds in that area of expertise, and their latest result is this new 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder engine which will grace the C-Class, in the form of their limited edition C250 CDI BluEfficiency model, which is set to premiere at the Paris Motor Show. Sure, economical engines are all around, but they don’t really have any power, but I can assure you, capable of delivering 204 hp with a torque of 500 Nm (368 lb-ft), it can go to a 100 km/h, or 62 mph from a standstill in a respectable 7 seconds, taking you to a maximum of 250 km/h when coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

According to the NEDC, the reported fuel average is 5.2 litres per 100 km/h or about 45.2 mpg, which for a small-size limousine is quite impressive. CO2 emissions are also pretty respectful, with a result of 138 g/km. The production run of this model is limited to only 5,000 models, with prices reported to start from €40,638 on the German market. Several other improvements were made to increase the fuel average, like low rolling resistance tires and a energy management system, or several aerodynamic tweaks like exterior mirror housing which improve the airflow, or a smooth underbody cladding.

This new engine won’t be limited to the C-Class though, Mercedes having said that it will also appear on the E-Class, GLK-Class and future E-Class coupe ranges.

To keep the buzz around the 2010 Ford Mustang until the official launch at the LA Show in November, Ford has published today a set of teaser photos on the dedicated minisite. We can’t tell much from the photos, but from what I can see, the next generation Mustang doesn’t seem to be dramatically changed comparing to the current Mustang. Guess we’ll have to wait for some more spy photos or some leaked images.

Fisker has announced that they’ve managed to complete a $65 million financing round. Beside the existing investors, Palo Alto Investors and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers who also contributed, a new investor showed up, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). The money will be used to complete the development of the Karma four-door plug-in hybrid and Fisker hopes to get the car marketed starting with the 4th quarter of 2009. If everything works out like Fisker wants to, they estimated an annual production of 15,000 units.

“We are extremely pleased to have closed our C financing round at this time, particularly in light of the current market conditions,” said Henrik Fisker, CEO, Fisker Automotive, Inc. “This shows once again that Fisker Automotive has a solid business plan and a globally experienced automotive team with very strong investors behind the company.”

Some time ago, Ford announced a massive recall involving around 12 million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars and trucks from model years 1992 through 2004. The vehicles had a faulty cruise-control switch that may cause a fire, no matter if they’re being driven or parked. Around 60 incidents were registered, but no accidents or injuries were reported. However, even though the repair is made very quick and doesn’t cost owners anything, NHTSA reports that there are still 5 million vehicles out there that haven’t been taken to the dealer and fixed, so they represent a danger for motorists.

So, if you own one of these cars, make sure you get it checked, or else you might be in trouble:

It’s no suprise that the French carmakers will do their best to have the most interesting stands at the upcoming Paris Motor Show and so far it seems that Renault has taking the lead. After announcing the new Renault Megane yesterday, today they’ve released details another premiere, the Renault Ondelios. Not the most beautiful concept we’ve seen, the Ondelios is Renault’s interpretation of a high-end crossover.

First thing that stands out is the aluminium-finish grille flanked by headlamp units with LED headlights, the butterfly-type side doors and the boomerang shaped tail lights. “Ondelios is inspired by motion rather than speed and is a whole new response to the call of the open road,” said Patrick Le Quément, Renault’s Design Director.

Meant to be a luxury car, the Ondelios offers all the passengers their own Samsung interactive portable multimedia devices which they can use for sharing data or multiplayer gaming, speakers incorporated into the headrests and a multizone HVAC system enables each passenger to set the temperature to his or her own liking. The dashboard also offers a whole bunch of features, like active display skins showing driver aid and ride information, monitor at the base of the windscreen displays the different menus and pictures from the door mirror cameras, three large strip displays provide driving-related information, revs and how the hybridized drivetrain is operating and a digital speedometer.

The Renault Ondelios is built on a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 205hp (150kW) 2.0 dCi engine, with two 20kW electric motors at the front and rear, mated to a seven-speed, double-clutch gearbox. They operate in mild hybrid mode, giving the engine extra boost as required and use a brake and boost system, recovering energy during braking then delivering it to the engine to boost acceleration. The Ondelios goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds, while keeping fuel consumption at 4.5 litres/100km (52.2 US mpg) and CO2 emissions at 120g/km. In their effort to promote their diesel models range, Audi has announced the Mileage Marathon, an event where 27 cars powered by TDI engines will drive across the United States, on the New York- Chicago – Denver – Monterey – Los Angeles route. The marathon will start on October 6th and the cars are Q7, Q5 and A4 models equipped with the 3.0 TDI engine and the A3 with the 2.0 liter TDI engine. This event probably means that Audi is considering more and more diesel powered models for the US market, because until now, the only model announced is the Q7, which will go on sale in the first part of 2009. Fellow bloggers from Autoblog and Autobloggreen will be among the 184 drivers attending the event, so we hope they have a lot of fun!

Chrysler has anounnced the most important new feature of the 2009 Dodge Charger, the new 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. Delivering 368hp (274kW) and 395lb-ft (535Nm) of torque, the new engine got a couple of new technologies, like variable valve timing (VVT), Chrysler’s fuel-saving Multi-Displacement System (MDS) and a set of hardware upgrades that include crankshaft structural upgrades, dual-mass crankshaft damper, floating pin piston design, valve spring design and an oil pump capacity increase for VVT.

Besides the engine upgrade, the new Charger will get a refreshed interior with satin silver door trim spears, center console cup holder rings and center stack and shifter bezels. New exterior features include new tail lamp design, antenna moved to the rear window, aluminum wheels as standard for the Dodge Charger SE and a new ‘Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat’ paint.

Chrysler has also announced that the top of the line Dodge Charger SRT8 will get dual-zone automatic temperature control, automatic headlamps, one-touch up/down windows, new front-seat head rests, remote start, air filtration and heated front seats, while a limited edition Super Bee “buzz model” in Hemi Orange with a serialized dash plaque will also be available.

The german tuning firm Kleeman sure has taken a liking to the Mercedes Brand, we saw a Mercedes-Maserati concept last year from them, and they sure haven’t lost much time, deciding to tinker around with one of the most powerful coupes around, the fabulous CLK 63 AMG Black Series. It already comes in stock with one of the most powerful engines from Mercedes’ performance division, AMG, and has been further modified to get the Black Series badge, which designates the monster under the hood and the performance it is capable of, the 6.2 litre V8 which delivers 507 hp with 630 Nm of torque wasn’t something that couldn’t be improved further by the guys at Kleeman.

On the outside, the old 19-inch wheels have been replaced with 20-inch ones, and modifications have been made to the arches in order for them to receive enough air for the braking system.Also carbon fiber took the place of the regular metal or plastic trim on the bodykit. By tweaking the ECU and also adding high flow exhaust manifolds and a sport catalyst they managed to get the power output to an impressive 545 hp and 675 Nm (or 498 lb-ft) of torque. But with this great a power under the acceleration pedal, Kleeman also adjusted the power output across the rev range to maintain a decent ride, without feeling the lags and bumps from the power of the engine.
