Ever since we saw the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show, we fell in love with because it’s simply breathtaking. And it seems Alfa is aware of the emotions this car brings and released a new set of photos of the car.

Scheduled to be produced in a limited run of 500 units, the 8C Spider will be powered by the same 4.7 liter V8 engine from the Competizione, developing 450 hp at 7000 rpm and 480 Nm (354 ft-lb) at 4750 rpm and mated to a 5 speed gearbox.

Today, Vauxhall presented their new logo, which will debut on the upcoming Insignia. With this new logo, the British GM subsidiary wants it to inspire “modern, fresh and inspired”, just like their current cars, the redesigned Astra and Corsa, plus the upcoming Insignia.

Bill Parfitt, Vauxhall’s Managing Director, said “While the new-look Griffin pays homage to our 100 year-plus manufacturing heritage in the UK, it also encapsulates Vauxhall’s fresh design philosophy, first showcased in the current Astra, and set to continue with Insignia”.

As we said, the new Vauxhall logo will debut together with the new Insignia, at the British International Motor Show in July. After the show, all Vauxhalls cars will roll out of the factory wearing the logo.

With the car being scheduled to debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 20, Nissan tried to keep the interest up by releasing a couple of teaser photos. However, the mistery is over, because a Carscoop reader scanned a brochure of the Intima (or Teana, to the Japanese customers), so we have the first photos of the car. Nissan managed to keep the concept‘s silhouette, however, as expected, it dropped the doors and seats arrangements.

Sometime, all those animal rights activists are right and their actions save animals, but sometimes, they’re simply ridiculous. Take, for example, this VW Polo commercial. That singing dog is pretty funny. But the commercial had to be taken off air after animal rights groups said that the “shaking” dog either was mistreated to behave in such a way, either it gave the wrong impression to the public by showing an animal that feared its owner.

Even though VW said that the two terriers, Cody and Bear, are highly trained animals and the whole commercial shooting was supervised by the American Humane Association, the commercial had to be taken off air. Now we don’t know about you, but we don’t think that there was someone on the set whipping the dog to act like that.

On April 2nd, Nissan UK started accepting orders for the Nissan GT-R and, in the first 48 hours, 700 orders were already placed. Looks like the performance car will be very popular in the UK. With pricing starting at £52,900 (OTR), the car will be available in three trim levels (Base, Premium Edition and Black Edition) and the first customers will get their cars in March 2009.

Paul Willcox, Managing Director Nissan Motor (GB) Limited said: “In normal production terms the pace of the line can be increased or decreased to meet with demand but as the engine of the GT-R is built by hand there is a maximum production capability of 1000 units per month. This volume has to satisfy all global demands covering America, Asia and Europe and therefore it will be late May before we know if we have been successful in our request.”

To place a reservation for a GT-R, you can go to www.gtrnissan.co.uk or you can visit one of the 10 specialised high performance centres placed around the UK. And for those who really want one, due to the heavy demand, Nissan advices to place order as soon as possible.

Some of you might remember the world’s fastest taxi we wrote about some time ago. But, while the Lamborghini Murcielago might be the fastest, it sure isn’t the most comfortable. And here are some taxis in Russia (where else?!) which really give you a comfy drive. Yeah, those are a Maybach and a Porsche Cayenne. Now, if we might say that the Cayenne is not such a surprise, who the heck would spend at least $600,000 to buy a Maybach and then turn it into a taxi. So, next time you’re in Russia and don’t want to get into a Lada cab, you might get lucky and ride into one of these, though that woul probably hurt your wallet pretty bad.

No doubt that the Audi A5/S5 is one our favorite cars out there and we think Audi made a really good job with it. And of course a cabrio version of this car will follow and here are some renderings created by Quinty, a member of the Germancarzone website. We have no official info from Audi so far, but, according to their leaked 5 years product launch schedule, the Audi A5 Cabriolet will be launched next January.

At the Leipzig Auto Show in Germany, Opel unveiled a special edition of the Opel Corsa. So, what’s so special about this edition? Well, it was created by 120 young Opel trainees. At the beginning, Opel’s intention was only to create a show off prototype for the German show, but Hans Demant, Opel’s chairman, was very impressed with the project’s result that he agreed to produce the car in a 1,000 units limited run.

The special edition features a new bodykit, which includes front and rear lip spoilers, side skirts, roof spoiler and chromed exhaust finished in Casablanca white and black rooftop, mirrors, grille and 17 inch alloy wheels. The interior is also colored in black and blue and, under the hood, the Opel Corsa Limited Edition will be powered either by an 80 hp 1.2-liter engine, a 90 hp 1.4-liter or a 90 1.3-liter diesel unit.

The Opel Corsa Limited Edition will be available starting June 2008 and will be priced starting at €15,850.

This summer, the seven-seat version of the Nissan Qashqai will make its debut at the London Motor Show, which starts on July 23. This comes after the Qashqai was a huge success for Nissan, with more than 170,000 units sold so far (Nissan also had to re-arrange worldwide production to meet the demand for the crossover, as we’ve reported here).

The car looks pretty much like the current Qashqai, however, to make room for the extra seats, several adjustments had to be made such as lengthened roofline and re-profiled rear. The car’s wheelbase was extended by 135 mm, while the length and width went up by 211 mm and 38 mm respectively. Also, the overall weight increased by 100kg because of the extra size and seats.

The upcoming seven-seat Qashqai will be offered with four engine choices, a 115 hp 1.6-liter petrol with 160Nm, a 141 2.0 liter with 200Nm, a 106 hp 1.5 dCi with 240Nm and the top of the line 150 hp 2.0 dCi with 320Nm. 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions will be offered.
