Seat isn’t arriving at the upcoming Worthersee Tour empty handed, as the Spanish carmaker, part of the Volkswagen Group, has revealed that it will bring forth a Bocanegra version of the recently revealed Ibiza ST station wagon.

As you can tell by the name, the new project will take styling cues from the older Bocanegra concept and the special edition made last year for the regular Ibiza (pictured above). From what we can tell, the upgraded Ibiza will boast a special two-tone paint, with black accents in the front as well as on the exterior mirror housings. The special black tone will also be used for the front grille and on the roof of the Ibiza Bocanegra ST.

For the inside, the Spanish carmaker added sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and aluminum sports pedals. The whole package is rounded off with a set of enlarged wheels.

Besides the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra ST, the company will also present other accessories for models like the Leon.

Seat, after teasing its fans with last year’s IBZ concept, has finally revealed the newest variant of its popular Ibiza B segment hatchback, the Ibiza Sport Tourer (ST), which will, of course, cater to the wagon market.

The new model sports a very interesting design, filled with many subtle touches which make the ST a great choice if you’re in the market for a new wagon model. Add in the three petrol and three diesel engines, with power ranging from 70 to 105 HP, and you’ll be pretty happy.

Even though it suffered quite a few changes from the gorgeous IBZ concept, including a tone down of the rear light cluster, the side panels and the front arches, not to mention the headlamps, the new Seat Ibiza ST will make a lasting impression on the many people who will be attending the Geneva Motor Show this March.

Now don’t get too excited, as the cars mentioned above will only act as safety cars in order for the organizers to test out the special stages of the rally and see if they are up to par with the safety regulations from the WRC.

This continues the long lasting partnership between Seat and the Catalunya Rally competition. The Spanish automaker will offer 86 cars for the officials and the technical assistance crews, among them being the special 180 HP Ibiza Bocanegra, the 200 HP Exeo TSI and the 240 HP Leon Cupra models. As a special tidbit of information, the Ibiza model will be driven by Joan Vinyes, the Andorra pilot which won the first edition of the Sear Supercup in 2002.

The rally has started yesterday and will end on Sunday, after all of the 18 stages will take place.

In what comes as a huge surprise, Seat has announced the debut of the Seat Ibiza Bocanegra production version, during the press days at the Barcelona International Motor Show. The Bocanegra Concept was first unveiled last year at the Geneva Motor Show and it previewed the new generation Ibiza. However, nobody was expecting the car, which looked awesome, to make it into production.

The car, which is also a tribute to Seat’s original Bocanegra, the 1200 Sport, which debuted in Spain in 1975, is very similar to the concept, Seat deciding to keep the black styling elements at its nose (black double headlights, central grille with honeycomb mesh and black surround including air vents). The front bumper, which also incorporated fog lights, combines black with the body color and is bigger at the bottom and over the wheel arches, giving the car a very aggressive look. At the back, the Bocanegra received honeycomb mesh on the side grids, new spoiler, chuncky wheel arches and a tinted rear window, plus a large “Bocanegra” badge on the rear hatch. The sporty look is completed by black door mirror housings, dark tinted sunroof and 17-inch Sira alloys.

On the interior, the “angry” Ibiza got a special three-spoke steering wheel, sports seats upholstered with special fabric, gloss black trim, aluminium-clad pedals and the Bocanegra logo on the instrument panel.

Under the hood, Seat will offer the Ibiza Bocanegra with the twin charged 1.4 liter TSI engine, available with 150 and 180 hp power output, mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox with paddle shifts mounted on the steering wheel.

Seat hasn’t announced when the Bocanegra will go on sale or how much it will cost, but we’re definitely really excited about the car which promises to be one of the coolest and most fun to drive small cars around. And check out the photos, doesn’t it look amazing?

The Seat Ibiza Cupra made its debut at there days’ Paris Motor Show, but now we have another sporty Ibiza treatment, this time from the German tuner JE Design. The tuner has fitted the Ibiza SportCoupe with a body kit that includes a new front spoiler, sport radiator grill, headlight eyebrows, side skirts, roof spoiler and a carbon fiber rear bumper apron attachment.

Though Seat introduced, some time ago, new colors for the model, JE Design added more features that make the car really stand out, like the LSD wing doors, center-mounted trapezoidal tailpipe and special matte black acrylic sheets that take the Ibiza SC’s look closer to the Bocanegra concept. The car also got 35 mm lowered springs and 17 or 18 inch JE Design wheels. Performance upgrades were made to the 1.9 TDI engine, which now delivers 130 hp (40hp more than the production version) and which takes the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.0 seconds (1.1 seconds faster than production version) and up to a top speed of 198 km/h (128 mph), comparing to 186 km/h (115 mph) on the regular model.

Today, Seat unveiled the new Seat Ibiza at their development and production facility in Martorell near Barcelona, Spain. The Chairman of the Board of Management, Erich Schmitt, said that “the new SEAT Ibiza is the car for the young and the young-at-heart – people who appreciate design, sportiness and quality, yet are also environmentally aware.”

The new Ibiza was created using the new new “Arrow Design” concept, having a newly designed front-end and it will be more dynamic, by having a longer wheelbase and greater track width. The car will also be more fuel efficient than the current generation, through reduced weight, more efficient engines and reconfigured transmission ratios. Emissions are also lower, petrol engines emitting less than 160g CO2/km, while the diesel versions keep CO2 emissions below 120g/km.

The new Seat Ibiza will make its world debut in Madrid, on May 22, 2008, with European market launch to follow soon after. However, European customers will be able to see the car before that, when specially equipped trucks will be displaying the cars across Europe. More info can be found on
