2011 Subaru Impreza WRX
The 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX gained the STI’s widebody fenders and the 1.3-inch wider track and it looks very cool in our opinion, not that the previous generations were not attractive. To improve the stability of the car, Subaru fitted it with high-performance summer tires that measure 235/45R17, which is a whole centimeter wider than the previous model. The wheels have also been changed and now these are 1.5 pounds / wheel lighter and one inch broader.
Fitted with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that outputs 265 hp, the 2011 Impreza WRX sounds great, like all of the other Impreza generations. Drive it down the highway and you will hear that pleasant hum that is suitable for the engine’s minor vibrations. Don’t get us wrong, this isn’t a quiet car from idle on up, if you are searching for refinement inside the cabin, the WRX should not be one of your priorities as it still is a true purebred Impreza.

The torque curve is flat under 2,500 rpm but push the gas and the 244 lb-ft will move the Impreza with authority. The power delivery of the WRX is almost linear with a slight exception of extra ramp right before the soft rev limiter cuts in @ 6,500 rpm or so. Similar with the steering, the accelerator and clutch pedals have lightness in them which won’t be enjoyed by all drivers. I for one would prefer more feedback, especially from the clutch pedal, but you will not have any problems accommodating to it.
The shifter of the WRX also feels light, requiring little effort in order to change the gear, while at the same time still providing the company’s proprietary blend of aggressive notchiness. The brakes of the car are very responsive and they are quite able to withstand any given situation.

Design-wise, the halo glow of the speedo’s end and the tach needles are easy to read and offer a style statement. Before you key the ignition, these dials are a black void and once you get the WRX started, the gauges come to life and their pattern is very easy to read in any conditions. Even with the sunroof open, the cabin of the car is silent enough and the wind noise is very controlled. The fog lights of the car are mostly for design purposes as they don’t offer the necessary light but the low beams definitely make up for it.
Taking into consideration that it has a very affordable starting price of $25,495, the 265 hp-powered 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX is worthy every single dollar and not many cars can offer the same thrills in this price segment.
