BMW X6 xDrive40d by Senner Tuning

The German tuners from Senner Tuning have unveiled a few days ago a mild upgrade program for the 2012 BMW X6 xDrive40d Alpine White which at the moment it’s only available in Europe. In its standard configuration, the car is powered by a 3.0-liter bi-turbo engine that develops 302 hp (306 PS / 225 kW) and a peak torque of 443 lb.-ft (600 Nm).

The Ingelheim-based tuner has reprogrammed the engine’s ECU and installed a new sport air filter which increases the output of the engine to 331 hp (336 PS / 247 kW) and 490 lb.-ft (665 Nm) of torque.

On the outside, this X6 comes with a BMW Performance front bumper that has generous air intakes in the honeycomb design, along with glossy black kidney grills as well as a diffuser in the back that has special fins.

The car rides on Hamann Anniversary EVO Black Line rims that measure 10.5 x 22 inches and have 295/30R22 tires in the front and 12 x 22-inch rims in the back wrapped around in 335/30R22 Continental Sport Contact 5P tires. Other modifications include Bilstein B8 springs and shocks, along with a 25/20 mm lowering feature. Also on board is the Power Converter that is capable of providing advanced throttle response.

BMW Axes X6 ActiveHybrid

BMW X6 ActiveHybrid

If we were to believe the guys from Bimmerfile.com, BMW plans on discontinuing the X6 ActiveHybrid from the United States. It came out in the second part of 2009 and had a rather steep retail price of $88,900. Carrying such an expensive price tag and a very unattractive design, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it didn’t do so well as far as sales are concerned. A more interesting model that is available for roughly the same amount of money ($600 more) is the X6M.

The 4WD hybrid X6 is motivated by a V8 turbocharged TwinPower engine that develops 400 hp and two high performance electric motors that get their juice from a brake-regeneration system. The combined output is 478 hp and 575 lb.-ft, making the car the most powerful hybrid in the entire world at the time when it came out, according to the German automaker. The BMW X6 ActiveHybrid is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 5.4 seconds and manages to return 25.8 mpg.

BMW X6 ActiveHybrid

The hybrid architecture that was added on the X6 increased the SUV’s weight by 250 kg, taking it to a grand total of a whopping 2,450 kg. The electric motor and the ancillaries were developed by BMW with the help of Daimler and are pretty much similar to the ones in the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid.

2012 BMW X6 Spied – New Angel Eyes, Still Ugly

2012 BMW X6

As much as we like cars here on rpmGo, and we really do, we can’t seem to find anything desirable about the BMW X6. Not even this mild facelift doesn’t make us somewhat interested in the car.

2012 BMW X6

Anyway, WCF’s spy photographers grabbed some photos with the 2012 BMW X6 and it seems that it will come with a new design of the company’s “angel eye” headlights which will have LED daytime running lights, just like the ones we’ve seen in the 2012 1-Series (yet another unattractive car) and will probably see them on the next-gen 3-Series which will be out soon.

2012 BMW X6

The rear lights also appear to be slightly modified and probably we’ll see more changes until the car will be launched as this is only a prototype. The car will most likely get a new 3.0-liter tri-turbo diesel engine which will develop up to 395 hp (400 PS / 294 kW).

2012 BMW X6

The 2012 BMW X6 will probably go on sale in the beginning of next year and we hope that somehow, someway, the production version will be heavily modified, but since we’re talking about  only a facelift, updates will be limited. Maybe the next-generation model will make the car more appealing, hopefully.

BMW Announces Exclusive Editions For X5 And X6 SUVs

BMW X5

The German automaker BMW has announced this week its intentions to launch Exclusive Editions for the X5 and X6 models which will be available starting with this fall. Both of the cars will come with an upgraded interior cabin with seats that are wrapped around in Nevada leather, along with an Anthracite headliner and a dark Bamboo wood trim. In addition, the SUVs will get black floor mats that have oyster-colored edging, along with bespoke sill plates.

In addition, the BMW X5 xDrive30d will benefit from the BluePerformance technology which will make the car Euro 6 compliant. To accomplish this they’ll add a diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter and a NOx absorber.

The weird thing about this model is the fact that it will be less fuel efficient than the normal version as it will drink 7.5 liters / 100 km, compared to the standard one that needs 0.1 liters / 100 km less. In addition, CO2 emissions will be up by 3g, reaching 198 g/km, compared to the regular BMW X5 xDrive 30d that has CO2 emissions of 195 g/km.

BMW X6 xDrive40d By Lumma Design

BMW X6 xDrive40d By Lumma Design

The German tuners over at Lumma Design have decided to give the BMW X6 another try and this time they took the one fitted with the most powerful diesel available in the lineup – the xDrive40d that comes with a 6-cylinder, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter unit that produces 306 hp and 442 lb.-ft (600 Nm) of torque.

BMW X6 xDrive40d By Lumma Design

After they’ve updated the software of the engine a little bit and installed a new custom exhaust system, they’ve managed to increase the output of the engine to 340 hp and 494 lb.-ft (670 Nm). Aside from this extra oomph under the hood, the tuners fitted the BMW X6 with a lowered suspension kit that brings the car 40 mm closer to the ground, along with huge 22-inch alloys that are wrapped around in 295/30/22 tires in the front and 335/25/22 tires for the back wheels.

The new bodykit packs an updated front bumper that houses additional LED lamps, massive wheel arch extensions, a blacked out front grille, side skirts that have air vents, a new design for the rear bumper that makes place for the impressive quad tail pipes and a diffuser.

BMW X6 xDrive40d By Lumma Design

Inside the cabin, this black & white color theme is continued, where we find a combination of standard and carbon-like leather, aluminum and Alcantara. Also, the X6 sports independent front & rear sports seats, along with bespoke aluminum pedals and instruments.

New Details About The 2014 BMW X5 And X6 Models

2011 BMW X5

The guys over at Automobile have found out that the new generations of the BMW X5 and X6 will come with a lot of improvements in the fuel efficiency area and they will also emit less CO2. Both crossovers will benefit from new axles that are going to be 150 kg (330 pounds) lighter than the current ones. Combining this with other weight-saving implementations, the base next-gen X5 model might have a curb weight of less than 1,814 kg (4,000 lbs).

Both the X5 and the X6 will benefit from a new generation of fuel-efficient power units. Aside from the usual 6- and 8-cylinder engines, the crossovers will be available with two smaller 4-cylinder units, a gasoline and a diesel. In addition, hybrid versions are also under development, like one with a 6-cylinder 345 hp (350 PS / 257 kW) engine and a 108 hp (110 PS / 81 kW) electric motor.

Even the hot “M” models will be “greener” as the report says that they will be up to 15% more fuel efficient than the ones we see on the road nowadays. However, they’ll still feature the same engine, which is a V8 twin-turbo 4.4-liter, but they will update it in order to output 557 hp (565 PS / 416kW).

As far as the design is concerned, the BMW X6 will feature a more functional appearance which will improve the rear passenger headroom and the rearward visibility. Inside the cabin, expect to see a look inspired from the 5-Series GT, featuring a panoramic moonroof, wood trim, leather upholstery, along with power-operated rear seats.

The report says that we should expect the next-gen BMW X5 to make its first official appearance at the 2014 edition of the North American International Auto Show. The X6 will be out six month later.

Best Car Lease Deals 2010

Car prices going up and down like crazy, market variations and thousands of offers for cars that will be worth at least $500 less, the second they are driven off the dealership premises. It is categorized as a used car days afterwards. And it will suffer heavy depreciation in the following year. I for one would rather lease it, use it as long as it’s new and shiny, pay only for the depreciation and when the lease is over, go get another completely new one with just about the same money.  This can be done without binding myself to a 5 year loan that will make me pay more than the car is worth, and end up with one that will be worth half afterwards.

That’s the beauty of leasing, not to mention that I’m under full warranty the whole time. So if I captivated your attention, than let me show you just what kind of car could have been leased in 2010.

Check out this 2009 Mercedes S550 4MATIC. It only has 17.700 miles out of a maximum of 40.000 with an average of 797 miles / month. This one carries itself around with style, boasting under the hood a huge V8 engine and comes with automatic transmission. It is extremely efficient taking 15 mph on city and 22 on the highway. Equipped with all the needs you can possibly think of, featuring ABS, CD player, alarm, Cruise control, power seats, Bluetooth and many more. To make things interesting, this car can be yours with less than $1250 a month on a period of 28 months.

BMW X6

If you think it’s a bit too much for your pocket but still want a luxurious powerful car than maybe you’d rather go for the 2010 BMW X6 50i. Boasting an amazing price of $760 / month. With the current mileage at 10.000 out of a maximum of 30.000 it means that it can be yours for 20.000 miles more with a calculated average of 1177 miles / month. Reporting as outstanding condition inside and out, this elegant mammoth is powered by a V8 engine and equipped with an automatic transmission that governs the all wheel drive makes the BMW as classic, safe and smooth as ever. The only downside to it is that it’s required a $3500 down payment.

Another Mercedes makes its way on our list. This time we’re talking about the 2010 Mercedes E350. With a 29 months period remaining and only $659 per month this is the bargain of the year. The 461 miles / month may pose a little problem, but not enough if you organize your time effectively. For a smaller sedan, the V6 engine is more than enough to carry it on and about. Like any other Mercedes it’s packed to the teeth. Abs OnStar, power steering, sun roof, keyless entry, custom wheels and xenon lights are only a few of the many features embedded in this car.

Amongst so many models of Mercedes and BMWs the 2010 Infinity G37 Coupe makes its way. With 24 months remaining and boasting a price of $461 per month, this luxurious car can be more than a match at least for the BMW if not for the Mercedes. The down payment is only $1000 for a sleek, elegant Coupe. Equipped with a V6 engine that runs on regular gas (a little save for the pocket) and coming with automatic transmission and four wheel drive it will take you where you need to go in style.

BMW X6 Gets Three-Seat Rear Bench Option

As of April this year, the BMW X6 will be available with a three-seat rear bench, an option that should have been available right from the start in my opinion. Up until now, the German crossover was available only with a four-seat layout and the new configuration will be available for all of the X6 versions, except for the ActiveHybrid. In addition, it will also be available for the X6 M model. Aside from the third seat that will replace the previous storage unit located between the two passengers, the five-seat X6 will also benefit from new leather options.

The German automaker revealed that the upcoming X6 models will get shift paddles on the steering wheel, similar to the M-badged models. These models will get the 8-speed Sport automatic transmission which will allow manual shifting with the help of the right paddle (upshifts) and the left one (downshifts).

Both the X5 and X6 will be available with a brand new set of Y-spoke design 20-inch alloy rims, wrapped in 275/40 front tires and 315/35 rear tires. In addition, these models will benefit from the Comfort Access system which will illuminate the car’s surroundings. The updated ConnectedDrive services will also be available and one of the new features will be the BMW Apps option which will allow iPhone users to access Twitter, Facebook as well as international radio stations.

2011 Lumma CLR X650

2011 Lumma CLR X650

Besides the CLR 558 GT based on the Porsche Cayenne, the engineers at Lumma are also working on the CLR X650, based on the BMW X6. The car will have its official debut next month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

2011 Lumma CLR X650

The exterior modifications brought over the standard model would have to be the redesigned front spoiler, the updated rear bumper, side skirts and the sportier-looking bonnet. The CLR X650 will also feature carbon fiber inserts on the rear lip, on the mirror covers, front kidneys and on the headlamp visors.

2011 Lumma CLR X650

Inside the cabin, the car will benefit from a leather upholstered sports steering wheel and leather-covered carbon-look interior ledges. The entire cabin is covered in a black and beige leather upholstery, complemented by the decorative seams in contrasting color. It also sports color coordinated instruments plus aluminum pedals with anti-slip rubber coating, something that you’ll also find in the CLR 558 GT. Four individual Recaro sports shell seats come as standard with this model.

2011 Lumma CLR X650

The increased performance will only be available for the diesel engine which will boost the power to 340 hp, thanks to the accelerator pedal power module along with the new sports exhaust system. With this engine, the maximum torque available is 670 Nm.

This SUV will also get a sports spring kit for both axles, making the X6 about 40 mm lower, promising even more agile driving. The CLR X650 is going to sit on 10×22-inch front wheels and 12×22-inch rear wheels, wrapped around in performance tires that measure 295/30 and 333/25.

BMW X6 M gets Mansory treatment, becomes an even more powerful beast

Swiss tuning company Mansory are known for their extreme tuning programs for luxury cars and their latest ‘victim’, the BMW X6 M, received some impressive upgrades. First of all, we have the exterior, where Mansory worked on a new body kit with new front spoiler with bigger air intakes, a new carbon fiber bonnet with vents, new side and rear skirts, a new rear diffuser, a rear spoiler lip and roof spoiler. Also, the wings were modified and are now wider, giving a very aggressive look to the German SAV.

Under the bonnet, the engine received 115 more hp, delivering 670 hp (493 kW) and 950 Nm of torque, which means the car now sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds (half a second faster than the production X6 M) and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

Other upgrades include stainless-steel sport exhaust with quad-pipes, a new sport suspension kit which lowers the car by 40 mm and all sorts of exclusive features for the interior.

BMW X4 gets new details rumored

Even though BMW has yet to acknowledge whether or not it will actually manufacture the X4 crossover, it seems that rumors about the new model are spreading like wildfire.

After hearing that it might receive an X4 M performance version, the lads from AutoExpress have revealed that it will also sport a highly frugal 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, in order to balance out the thirstier M-badged crossover.

Besides that, the new BMW X4 will borrow design cues heavily from the current X6 Sports Activity Coupe, but combine them with some systems found on the 5 Series Gran Turismo. Most importantly, the two-stage hatchback will be present on the X4, for that extra dose of practicality.

Not much else was revealed, but you shouldn’t start saving up for this new coupe/crossover model until BMW actually confirms the new model.

BMW still considering X4 crossover, X4 M also a possibility

BMW shocked the automotive industry when it revealed the X6 ‘Sports Activity Coupe’ crossover, creating a whole new niche all for itself.

Now, seeing as how the X6 is surpassing sales estimates and already saw 80,000 units sold this year, the Bavarian company is setting its eyes on the smaller crossover/coupe segment, as highlighted by the recent Range Rover Evoque.

According to Autocar, not only is a regular X4 on the drawing board, but also a performance version of the future model, presumably the X4 M.

The smaller crossover would pack the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine that is currently being prepared for the 1 Series M Coupe.

No word yet on when we might see the BMW X4, but if X6 sales will continue to soar, then you can be sure that BMW will put the development pedal to the metal.

G-Power BMW X6 Typhoon RS Ultimate V10 revealed, produces 888 HP

Tuning company G-Power really knows how to squeeze out every ounce of performance from BMW models, revealing a lot of special projects up until now.

But seeing as how the BMW M5 will soon be retired, and with it the impressive 5.0-liter V10 engine, the tuning company decided that something special was needed. As such, G-Power took a regular BMW X6 M, and replaced its 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine with the naturally aspirated goodness of the 5.0-liter V10.

That’s not all though, as the resulting project, the G-Power BMW X6 Typhoon RS Ultimate V10, has seen the engine’s displacement increased to 5.5-liters and the addition of two superchargers. Other modifications include a remapped ECU, special pistons, a new, completely bespoke rear differential, which needs to handle all that power going to the rear wheels (the xDrive all-wheel drive system was also scrapped).

The massive engine is connected to a six-speed manual (no automatic option), which means an output of 888 HP and 642 lb-ft of torque. The new X6 can now sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 205 mph.

As you can imagine, a plethora of other upgrades were made to the exterior and interior of the car. A new body kit was added to the outside, as well as 23-inch wheels. The inside boasts four individual carbon fiber seats, a sports steering wheel and a new carbon fiber trim.

G-Power will produce just four BMW X6 Typhoon RS Ultimate V10, each with a price tag of €675,000 ($873,085). If that doesn’t strike your fancy, then there are plenty of other packages available from G-Power.

BMW X6 gets turned into a real two-door coupe thanks to ArmorTech

The BMW X6 has been marketed as a Sports Activity Coupe, even thought the German model had four actual doors and a rear hatch.

Now, for those that really want the X6 to be a regular coupe model, ArmorTech has revealed a brand new customization package, which turns the X6 from a five-door to just a three-door model.

For a price, a large one of course, the Russian engineers from ArmorTech will modify the X6 to make it a true coupe, with just two front doors. This is done by pushing back the B-pillar, making the front doors longer and bringing the rear window closer to the front of the car. The seats are also modified, to allow easy access in the back.

Besides the two-door kit, ArmorTech also offers performance and aerodynamic upgrades, but it’s safe to say that quite a few rich people with questionable taste will flock to get their X6 in an even more impractical version. Those people shouldn’t forget about this Porsche Cayenne Coupe project, which was revealed some time ago.

What do you think? Is the X6 better off without two extra doors? Share your thoughts below.
