Renault reveals facelift for Scenic & Grand Scenic

Earlier this week Renault revealed the first official photos of the facelift Scenic / Grand Scenic, along with publishing some new information about the more efficient engines and the hi-tech equipment that the cars will be available with. On the outside, not much has changed, except for the front bumper and the headlights that now have a different shape and LED daytime running lights. At the back the story is just about the same, with revised lights and a new shape for the bumper.

The major news for the revised Scenic / Grand Scenic is under the hood where we find the new range of Energy engines which promise to be more efficient. The highlight of this lineup would have to be the 1.6-liter Energy dCi that generates 109 hp and has CO2 emissions of only 105 g/km, managing to return 69 mpg UK. There’s also a more powerful version with 128 hp that has 115 g/km of CO2 emissions and can return 64 mpg UK.

The new Scenic / Grand Scenic can be fitted with a 4-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that produces 114 hp. This power unit will be replacing the outgoing 1.6-liter 109 hp gasoline unit. The new engine has CO2 emissions of 135 g/km and is 20% more fuel efficient than the engine it replaces.

As standard, both cars will be available with hill start assist, while the Scenic can be fitted – as an optional feature – with the company’s Visio system which has an automatic headlight function and a lane departure warning system.

The starting price for the Renault Scenic is 21,350 Euros, while the Grand Scenic can be yours if you are willing to spend at least 24,850 Euros. Both cars will become available in Europe next month, while the rest of the markets will get the cars later on.
