Volvo C30 Facelift gets sporty R-Design package from Frankfurt

While Swedish company Volvo is famous for its extremely safe cars, the automaker also wants to reveal that it can make beautiful and even sporty ones from their existing lineup of vehicles. That is why the new facelifted C30 will be getting a custom R-Design package, which is currently exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show these days.

This new package will see mechanical upgrades in terms of steering, which received new, sharper ratios, but also in terms of suspension, which received stiffer springs and dampeners, as well as the ride height, which has been lowered by 10 mm.

“A customer who test-drives the new C30 R-Design will immediately feel the difference,” said Stefan Sällqvist, manager Vehicle Dynamics at Volvo Cars. “Even before the car has covered fifty meters, the driver will be aware of the crisp steering and the distinct chassis response.”

But the biggest changes were made on the outside, as the new R-Design package brings forth a brand new, more aggressive bodykit for the C30, making the premium hot hatch a very attractive one. The aforementioned bodykit, alongside the new chrome plated tailpipes, 17-inch sport rims and the metal finish for the grille and mirror housings complete the sportier look of the facelifted C30.

On the inside, a leather interior in either two-tone or all black will be featured, as well as various inserts in the center console and dash alongside an aluminum and blue theme on the speedometer and rev counter.

Volvo declined to reveal a launch date for this R-Design or a presumed price, but seeing as how it changes the new C30 facelift, it will surely make plenty of people consider it for their new car.

Lambo Orange for the new Seat Ibiza SportCoupe

The new Seat Ibiza is a really good looking car, and the new SportCoupe version aims to really highlight the sportiness of the model with a more agressive look. The spanish manufacturer really wants to do a good job with this model and it would seem it’s pulling out all the stops, taking advantage of being in the Volkswagen group and borrowing the Electric Orange color from super car producer Lamborghini.

We have gotten used with the odd colors that the italian manufacturer has offered with their models, most of them going really nice with the exclusive look of their cars. If you buy a Lambo you definetly want to be seen by everyone and Seat has really decided to take advantage of these colors and make their models really stand out in the dull market nowadays. Such were the cases with another few colors offered by the spanish producer, like the Chrono Yellow or Kiwi Green, having really highlighted the latin spirit dominating the design of their cars.

The new Skoda Fabia Sport announced in the UK

After today we wrote about the Brabus SLR Roadster or the Abt Audi AS5, we present you another supercar package, the Skoda Fabia Sport. Just kidding, of course. Today, Skoda announced the UK launch of the Skoda Fabia Sport, a new addition to the Czech carmaker’s small car range, which got a new front spoiler, chrome exhaust pipe, rear diffuse and 16-inch alloy wheels.

I was never very fond of the latest Fabia generation, however, it’s pricing is very reasonable. The 70 hp 1.2 liter 12v version starts at £10,660, while the 105 hp 1.6 liter 16v version has a starting price tag of £11,735. The two diesel versions available start at £12,115 for the 80 hp 1.4 TDI and £12,795 for the 105 hp 1.9TDI version. The first UK customers will get their cars at the end of January.

Chevrolet Captiva Sport Edition

Chevrolet announced today the Captiva Sport Edition, which is a more sporty version of the successful SUV. The package features dark headlights and rearlights, trunk lid in body color, new exhaust tips and 18 inch wheels. The interior also got some new stuff, like the red and black leather upholstery with red stitching and black carbon trims for the cockpit. The Chevrolet Captiva Sport will be available with two engine choices, a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel and a 169 hp V8 petrol engine.

Not being an extraordinary car, still the Chevrolet Captiva is a good buy, that offers decent performances for a good price and, with 46,000 units sold so far in Europe, it’s quite a success and we expect the Sport version’s sales to go well.

Corvette Water Sports Boat

We present you the Corvette of water sports boats. And no, it’s not some kind of metaphor, this really is a Corvette boat, which, unfortunately can only be used on water, not on the road too. Named the 2008 Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V, this was built by Malibu Boats under GM’s supervision. Might sound crazy, but this is not the first time Malibu Boats and GM build something like this, as they also build the C4 and C6 versions of the Corvette boat in the past.

The 2008 Corvette Water Sports Boat is offered in two versions, first, the Coupe, which is powered by the 400 hp V8 engine and a second Z06 version, powered by the LS7 Corvette engine which delivers the same power as the road car, 505 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Range Rover Sport Coupe by LSE Design

Remember the Range Rover Sport teaser photo we presented some time ago? Well, we don’t have anything new on that, though we’d love to see that, but we have something that makes us dream of that, the Range Rover Sport Coupe, created by LSE Design. The UK tuner will make 100 of these beauties, each priced at around $200,000 (that’s about 135,285 Euro or £96,900). I wouldn’t say it’s too much, I would probably buy it right away, if I’d had the money. But I’ll just have to wait a little more.

So, what to you get for your 200 grands? Well, you get a modified engine which develops over 500 hp, a complete carbon fiber body with a panoramic roof made out of glass, LED lights all over the exterior and, hang on to something, diamonds placed in the speedometer at 10 MPH increments. Not bad. Anyways, I like the regular Range Rover Sport, but this thing is like..WOW! What do you say? Please leave comments here and see more photos after the jump. You can also check out the project’s official website, thesportcoupe.com.

Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR street-legal racing car

At the upcoming LA Auto Show, Dodge will present the amazing Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. What’s so amazing about this car? Well, the car is powered by the same 600 Hp V10 engine from the standard Viper, but ACR (Amercian Club Racer) tuned this car for the racetrack while still keeping it street-legal.

More exactly, ACR equipped the Viper with an adjustable KW Suspensions race coilovers, a new front stabilizer bar along with an aero kit that includes a removable 3-inch front splitter and a massive carbon fiber adjustable rear wing that can be set to seven different positions. The coupe is also a lot lighter, engineers managing that with the lightweight wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and two-piece Stoptech brakes, which makes the car 40 pounds lighter. Customers can also choose the “Hard-Core” package, which also removes the audio system, the underhood sound deadening material, the trunk carpet, and the tire inflator and which saves another 40 pounds.

The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR is scheduled to go on sale during the second quarter of 2008, in the US and no exact price, however we know it will be under $100,000. More photos after the jump.
