Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid availability limited due to Thai floods – rpmGo.com

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid

Even though this year’s disaster in Asia hit mostly Thailand rather than Japan, the carmaker Toyota has announced a few days ago that the number of units of the 2012 Prius Hybrid that they’ll be able to make will be directly impacted due to the fact that the company’s supply chains are suffering the effect of the worst floods that hit Thailand in the last five decades.

Toyota has a factory in Chachoengsago, Thailand where last year they started making the Prius Hybrid. Even though this factory didn’t suffer from the damages caused by the flood, the Japanese automaker decided to shut down production of all its factories in Thailand during the period while the country is trying to solve the problems caused by the floods. There were some Toyota factories affected by this natural disaster, like the ones in Changchun, Jilin, China and the plant in Tsutsumi, Japan.

As a result of this, over the coming weeks the availability of the 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid will be limited.
