Volkswagen brings Polo and Polo Cup Racer to New Delhi |

The New Delhi Auto Expo wasn’t just about new Japanese concepts, as Volkswagen also made an appearance, with its new Polo model and, as a special treat, a Polo Cup racer, which will debut in a national competition in India this summer.

First off, the stock Polo will be available with two 1.2-liter engines, a petrol one which can output 75 HP and 110 Nm of torque, and a diesel one, which can develop 75 HP with 180 Nm of torque. It will be launched soon enough on the Indian market, with VW hoping to take a chunk of the compact hatchback niche.

But the most interesting appearance was the Polo Cup racer, which boasts a 1.6-liter R4 diesel engine, which can output 130 HP and 250 Nm of torque. The car also features a six-speed manual transmission, an adjustable performance suspension, a new body kit, a racing seat and a roll cage, making it fit for its debut in June in the Indian Polo Cup competition.
