VW Beetle Cabriolet coming to LA Motor Show

It seems that the cabriolet version of the all-new Volkswagen Beetle will make its public debut during this November at the Los Angeles Motor Show. It is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in mid-2013 and will borrow the same engine lineup as its hatchback sibling.

This means that clients will be able to opt for a base 1.2-liter TSI unit that pumps out 104 hp or a larger 1.4-liter TSI with 158 hp. Also available is going to be a 2.0-liter turbo that produces 197 hp for the flagship model, as well as a more frugal 2.0-liter TDI with 138 hp.

As you probably know this, the VW Beetle Cabriolet was previewed by the German automaker with the E-Bugster concept, but keep in mind that the concept was battery-powered and had pumped-up wheel arches. However, the rest of the car should be just about the same when the production version is introduced. VW is also working on a Speedster version that will come out sometime in 2014 and will be just about the same as the aforementioned E-Bugster.

The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet will cost somewhere around 18,000 pounds for the entry-level variant with the 104 hp 1.2-liter TSI power unit.
